An experimental study of coupling characterization is performed where different thickness of fiber cores are paired in order to develop a directional splitter. An external pressure is exerted upon both the fibers to stimulate the transfer of energy between the first fiber to the second fiber. The aim is to analyze the optimum thickness of multimode polymer optical fiber core needed to develop an effective coupler/splitter. The study is done by experimental set-up using specified radius of circular blocks customized using matching refractive index material. Other aim is to provide a considerable explanation on the characteristics in splitting ratio, excess loss and insertion loss when different thickness of cores are used with the existence of load F.

The cost effective demultiplexer based on POF is re ported in this study. The demultiplexer is fabricat ed by combining optical splitter with the suitable filter for wavelength selection. Therefore this study we aims to evaluate the effectiveness of selected color filter film for demultiplexer construction where only sig nals with certain wavelengths are allowed to pass throug h the demultiplexer while the other signal that car rying different wavelengths are absorbed. Power reduction analysis has been carried out for special filter u sed in the configuration. Characterization testing and ana lysis is done based on recorded data. Demultiplexer components are categorized by Same Filter Different Sources (SFDS) scheme and then performance of transmitted signal by the presence of interference is studied. Demultiplexer developed is effective in short range communication, using low cost components and simple techniques. Communication range for short range communication is maximized. Only signals with certain wavelengths are allowed to pass through th e multiplexer. The rest are absorbed. Several measure s are made to ensure efficiency, such as testing an d measurement on parameters contributing to loss. Bes t filters are selected based on their ability to bl ock certain wavelengths while letting others or pass th rough efficiently.

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of selected color filter film for demultiplexer construction where only signals with certain wavelengths are allowed to pass through the demultiplexer while the other signal that carrying different wavelengths are absorbed. Characterization testing and analysis is done based on recorded data. Demultiplexer components are characterized by the Same Source at Different Filters (SSDF) and performance of transmitted signal are measured. The developed demultiplexer is effective in short range communication, using low cost components and simple techniques. Communication range for short range communication is maximized by combining wavelengths and send through a single strand of fiber by means of Wavelngth Division Multiplexing (WDM). Only signals with certain wavelengths are allowed to pass through the multiplexer. The rest are absorbed. Several measures are made to ensure efficiency, such as testing and measurement on parametres contributing to loss. Best filters are selected based on their ability to block certain wavelengths while letting others ro pass through efficiently. The blocking feature is important to avoid phenomena of crosstalk occurs in the system.
