A new type of microgripper based on giant magnetostrictive material(GMM) is presented. Driving force is provided by the expansion and shrinkage of GMM in magnetic field. Output displacement is amplified by using flexibility hinge and leverage structure. Theoretical displacement - current model of the microgripper is established, the prototype is manufactured for experimental performance test and the results show the reliability of the designing method.

This paper introduces a design of magnetostrictive precision pump and analyses its structure and working principle, combined with the ANSYS/FLOTRAN CFD finite element analysis software to make simulation analysis about the different pump cavity height, import pipeline distribution, import pipeline diameter and import pipeline shape on the influence of the pump pressure loss, optimizes the flow field structure parameters, provides the theory support for the optimization design of magnetostrictive pump.

Designed a GMM precision pump for the existing membrane pump has the accuracy of low flow control precision, and analyzed the structure and working principle of the pump. Besides, the magnetic circuit and magnetic field of the pump has been simulated by the finite element ANSYS software and the modal analysis has been carried out on the concentric circles structure of elastomer. The results show that the design of the pump is reasonable.

To optimize the electromagnetic performance of giant magnetostrictive actuator(GMA), equivalent magnet circuit equation was proposed, and effects of magnetic circuit components, gap¿s magnetic permeability and the evenness of driving magnetic field on the magnetic field characteristics were analyzed based on the equation. the driving coil¿s structure was designed, and its shape was optimized based on G-factor; with the electromagnetic field analysis function available in ANSYS program, several different magnetic circuits and their field distribution are analyzed. As a result, a kind of magnetic circuit structure with more even magnetic field is found out. The actuator prototype was made and tested, and result shows the optimal method proposed in the paper can greatly improve performance of GMA.
