ANÁLISE DA PERCEPÇÃO AMBIENTAL E SENSIBILIZAÇÃO DE EDUCANDOS DO ENSINO FUNDAMENTAL DE UMA ESCOLA PÚBLICA PARA REALIZAÇÃO DA COLETA SELETIVA, CAMPINA GRANDE - PB

This study aimed to analyze the disposal of solid waste generated in the Elementary School Our Lady of the Rosary and environmental awareness among students of Youth and Adults (EJA) in relation to the problem of Solid Waste. The teaching unit was selected because of its location and the fact that it has available to collectors for the implementation of selective collection in their respective colors: yellow, green, red and blue, but they were stranded in the schoolyard as the separation of solid waste was not occurring in a satisfactory manner, a fact that leads to the understanding that students, educators and employees of the school unit probably did not know and / or were not sensitive to the importance of the collection. After data analysis and verification of the lack of waste management in the teaching unit, was promoted moments of awareness, such as lectures and workshops on the issue of solid waste, in order for students, educators and employees know the difference between trash and solid waste, landfill and landfill, emphasizing the importance of selective collection and the work of collectors of recyclable materials to reduce pollution of the environment and reduction of natural resource extraction, as well as income generation.

Riscos inerentes ao ambiente laboral de catadores de materiais recicláveis formais e informais

This work aimed at analyzing comparatively the occupational risks to which, the recyclable material collectors are submitted while working cooperatively or informally, in Campina Grande, Paraiba, Brazil. The participant survey was conducted from March 2012 to December 2013 with 11 recyclable material collectors, seven of them organized in an Association, ARENSA (Association of Collectors of Recyclable Materials of Nossa Senhora Aparecida Community) and four of them working informally. The chosen groups reside in the same neighborhood, Tambor. The investigated occupational risks were chemical, physical, biological and ergonomic. It was found that garbage collectors are submitted daily, in their work routines, to different occupational risks. Among them are exposure to noise, vibration, solar radiation, temperature change, direct and indirect contact with chemical materials such as solvents and liquids that leak from batteries, exposure to pathogenic organisms contained in organic, sanitary and health service waste. They perform heavy physical exertion during collection and transport of recyclable materials in a work day that exceeds eight hours. However, the risks are intensified among informal recyclable material collectors. Among other factors, lack of training, not receiving selected and sanitized waste from its source, maintaining direct contact with other types of waste (organic, sanitary and health services waste), worsened by the absence of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) during work activities. It follows that there is a relation between the organization of associated recyclable material collectors and the reduction of risks inherent to the profession when compared to informal workers. However, associated recyclable material collectors are not exempt from these risks, which require more effective public policies, especially relating to Integrated Solid Waste Management.

INFLUÊNCIA DA ORGANIZAÇÃO DE CATADORES DE MATERIAIS RECICLÁVEIS EM ASSOCIAÇÃO PARA A MELHORIA DA SAÚDE E MINIMIZAÇÃO DE IMPACTOS SOCIOAMBIENTAIS

This study aims to evaluate the influence of the organization of recyclable material collectors in Association to improve the health and minimization of environmental impacts in Campina Grande - PB. The participant survey was conducted from August 2010 to November 2011 with 16 recyclable material collectors, eight members and eight that operate informally in Campina Grande-PB. Data were collected through weekly meetings, seminars, semi-structured questionnaires, environmental and economic monitoring of recyclable material collectors and analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively and the quantitative spread into categories and subsequently evaluated in statistical methods in excel spreadsheets. We note that the organization of recyclable material collectors favored significantly the health conditions of these workers and their families, minimizing environmental impacts, and favor the selective collection in the group’s action neighborhoods. So there influence on the organization of recyclable material collectors in association to improve the health and minimization of environmental impacts, although at the time of this research the influence perceived expressed small advances, due to the short time of formalization.

Avaliação de impactos ambientais: estudo de caso no cemitério público do município de Queimadas - PB

E inegavel a importância do cemiterio para a sociedade, seja do ponto de vista cultural, espiritual, sanitario, entretanto, por se tratar de um empreendimento que oferece alto risco de poluicao ao meio ambiente e impacto psicologico a populacao e motivo de polemica e preocupacao por parte de varios setores da sociedade. Diante deste contexto, este estudo tem como objetivo descrever e avaliar os impactos ambientais provenientes das atividades sepultamento realizados no cemiterio publico no municipio de Queimadas – PB. Adotou-se como instrumentos de pesquisa: visitas in loco, atraves da qual foi realizada a observacao direta e registro fotografico do cemiterio em estudo, bem como conversas informais com moradores residentes proximos ao empreendimento. Os resultados foram quantificados atraves de uma Matriz de Leopold adaptada, na qual foram consideradas as dimensoes fisicas, quimicas, biologicas e antropologicas da localidade estudada. Considerando as atividades sepulcrais no cemiterio publico municipal da cidade de Queimadas, e possivel apontar que, mesmo em condicoes adversas no âmbito fisico, como por exemplo, quando se trata do relevo do terreno, a implementacao de suas atividades e considerada viavel, visto que no contexto historico da urbanizacao da cidade em que esta localizado, suas atividades precederam a construcao de residencias e pavimentacao de seu entorno, no entanto, neste quesito, considera-se como relevante a adocao de estrategias para a drenagem e pre-tratamento do necrochorume gerado a partir da decomposicao dos finados sepultados.

EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL COMO INSTRUMENTO DE MUDANÇA DE PERCEPÇÃO AMBIENTAL DE CATADORES DE MATERIAIS RECICLÁVEIS ORGANIZADOS EM ASSOCIAÇÃO, CAMPINA GRANDE-PB.

Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a mudanca de percepcao ambiental dos catadores de materiais reciclaveis associados a ARENSA (Associacao dos Catadores de Materiais Reciclaveis de Nossa Senhora Aparecida ) Campina Grande–PB. O processo de formacao dos catadores de materiais reciclaveis acontece desde 2008. Contudo, a pesquisa exploratoria, realizada de janeiro a fevereiro de 2012, foi construida a partir da analise comparativa de dados colhidos em 2010 e 2012. A mudanca de percepcao proporcionou aos catadores de materiais reciclaveis a sua insercao no meio social permitindo o entendimento do valor da profissao exercida hodiernamente. A satisfacao profissional demonstra que o grupo e detentor de grande autoestima, abstraindo-se da ideia de que a catacao de residuos e uma atividade inferior e vergonhosa, contrariando o cenario brasileiro. Apesar dos avancos originados do processo de educacao ambiental desde 2008, ha desafios a serem superados, dentre os quais: renda mensal digna e condicoes de infraestrutura.

QUANDO EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL FAZ A DIFERENÇA, VIDAS SÃO TRANSFORMADAS

O principal objetivo do presente trabalho foi avaliar as alteracoes advindas do trabalho de Educacao Ambiental por meio da extensao universitaria, executado de 2009 a 2011, com catadores de materiais reciclaveis da comunidade Nossa Senhora Aparecida, Campina Grande-PB. O processo de sensibilizacao, formacao e mobilizacao foi conduzido em dez etapas, dentre as quais: curso de formacao para os discentes de Ciencias Biologicas/UEPB; elaboracao de diagnostico socioambiental, desenvolvimento e aplicacao de estrategias em Educacao Ambiental. No que se refere as mudancas constatadas, destacaram-se: compreensao do contexto social, no qual o grupo em intervencao estava inserido; reconhecimento da importância da profissao exercida; resgate da autoestima; inquietude para intervir na propria realidade; organizacao em associacao (ARENSA: Associacao de Catadores de Materiais Reciclaveis da Comunidade Nossa Senhora Aparecida); consecucao de galpao para triagem, acondicionamento e comercializacao, e mitigacao de impactos negativos sobre a saude desses profissionais. Portanto, Educacao Ambiental por meio de extensao universitaria provocou mudancas nas vidas dos catadores de materiais reciclaveis associados a ARENSA, dos discentes e docentes que participaram do projeto.
