Avaliação da ocorrência de transtornos mentais comuns em usuários do Programa de Saúde da Família

Marina Bandeira; Lucas Cordeiro Freitas; João Gualberto Teixeira de Carvalho Filho

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed at evaluating the characteristics of mental disturbances in a low socio-economic level sample of persons attended by a community family health program called Programa de Saude da Familia (PSF), in order to identify their need for care. METHOD: Trained research assistants interviewed 400 residents, indicated by the PSF team. Subjects were of a low economic level catchment area of a town in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais, in Brazil. Interviewers applied the Questionnaire of General Health (QSG), which evaluates the characteristics of mental health non-psychotic problems. RESULTS: A high percentage of persons (37.8%) had symptomatic global scores in the scale, which indicates the presence of problems in mental health, especially in Sub-scales Regarding Sleep Disturbances (41%) and Desire of Death (38.25%), and less in the Sub-scales of Distrust in Performance (27.75%), Psychosomatic Disturbances (25.5%) and Psychological Stress (22%). A significantly higher percentage of men had symptomatic global scores (45.1%) compared to women (32.6%), but a greater percentage of women (44.1%) had symptomatic scores in the sub-scale regarding desire of death compared to men (29.9%). CONCLUSION: The results obtained described important problems in mental health, differentiated by sex, and pointed to the need for mental health care of those persons.

Family Burden Interview Scale for relatives of psychiatric patients (FBIS-BR): reliability study of the Brazilian version

Marina Bandeira; Maria Gláucia Pires Calzavara; Lucas Cordeiro Freitas; Sabrina Martins Barroso

OBJECTIVE Psychiatric deinstitutionalization resulted in greater involvement of families in daily care of patients. Family caregivers burden has been described by international researches. In Brazil very few studies investigated family burden with validated scales, perhaps due to the restrict availability of scales to measure this construct. The present study examined the reliability of the Brazilian version of the Family Burden Interview Schedule. METHOD Scale reliability was assessed through its internal consistency and temporal stability. A sample of 243 family caregivers of psychiatric patients attending public outpatient services were interviewed with the scale. Socio-demographic data were collected with a standardized form. A sub-sample of 42 relatives participated in a re-test, after 3 weeks, for assessment of the scale temporal stability. RESULTS Cronbach alpha coefficients ranged from 0.58 to 0.90 for global and domains scores. Pearson correlation coefficients and intra-class correlation coefficients for test and retest ranged from 0.54 to 0.90. DISCUSSION Results for internal consistency were similar to the original scale. Four subscales presented alpha coefficients superior to the original ones. The temporal stability cannot be compared because this analysis was not performed for the original scale. CONCLUSION The Brazilian version of the scale had good psychometric properties of temporal stability and internal consistency.

Validade de critério do sistema de avaliação de habilidades sociais (SSRS-BR)

Lucas Cordeiro Freitas; Zilda Aparecida Pereira Del Prette

This study carried out the analysis of the criterion validity of the Brazilian version of the Social Skills Rating System (SSRS-BR). The results of a sample of 84 children with mental disability were compared with a sample of 496 children with typical development. The children and their teachers evaluated social skills, behavior problems and academic competence using the SSRS-BR. In all global scales and in most subscales the instruments of self-evaluation and evaluations done by teachers were sensitive to, significantly, differentiate children with and without mental disability in the constructs measured by the SSRS-BR. This study provides the instrument for future researches as well as for the development of evaluation procedures and intervention programs for children with mental disability.

Validação da Escala de Comportamentos Sociais de Pré-escolares para o Brasil

Talita Pereira Dias; Lucas Cordeiro Freitas; Zilda Aparecida Pereira Del Prette; Almir Del Prette

Joviane Marcondelli Dias Maia; Almir Del Prette; Lucas Cordeiro Freitas

This work aims to characterize the repertoire of social skills of visually impaired individuals that attend a specialized institution and the differences in relation to the normative pattern. It analyzes the influence of the type and origin of visual impairment regarding repertoire, connecting it to socioeconomic variables, gender and age. Ten women and 19 men responded to the instruments: “Criterio Brasil”, Initial Interview and a self-report inventory (IHS-del-Prette) (2001), with a structure of 5 factors. Among these students, 15 had total blindness and 14 low vision; 20 had acquired impairment and nine congenital; 17 were single and 12 married; 22 did not work and 7 worked in informal activities. The level of education ranged from none to Higher Education. Significant differences between the groups regarding the type of impairment, gender, socio-economic variables and marital status were not found. The younger they were, the higher the scores in the F4 (dealing with unknown people and new situations). The higher the level of education they had, the better results they obtained in F1 (coping and assertion) and F3 (talking and self-confidence) general and factorial scores. The participants who worked had greater aggressiveness self-control, and the participants with congenital impairment had better results in general scores and dealing with unknown people and new situations
