Purification of bovine parathyroid hormone by gel filtration

Howard Rasmussen; Lyman C. Craig

A method is described for the isolation of bovine parathyroid hormone by the technique of gel filtration. This material has an amino acid composition similar to that of material isolated by countercurrent distribution. A revised estimate of the amino acid residues per molecule (75) and minimum molecular weight (8447) are given. The empirical formula is: Lys7, His3, Arg4, Asp8, Thr, Ser7, Glu10, Pro3, Gly4, Ala6, Val6, Meth2, Ileu3, Leu7, Tyr, Phe2, Try, and (CONH2)7.
