MRAC and FMRLC for a plant with time varying parameters

S. E. Oltean; M. Abrudean; A. Gligor

This paper presents a comparative analysis of two adaptive control methods used in case of time varying plant parameters. The first adaptive control method is based on the stability theory of Lyapunov and the other one is based on fuzzy logic. Also, the performances of the proposed control algorithms are evaluated with simulation environment. These control structures are designed for local compensation of the non-linear interactions and unknown payload variations in flexible-link gear drive

Implementation of an additional monitoring device to prevent failures of the cooling systems

M. R. C. Trusca; S. Albert; F. Farcas; M. L. Soran; M. Abrudean

Computer systems in a datacenter are designed to work best when the ambient temperature is around 20 Celsius degree. These requirements ensure that the datacenter has to be equipped with automatic ventilation and thermostatic systems. The systems keep temperature around equipment and components to a specified level, regardless of the amount of heat generation and variation of external temperature. The thermostatic process is achieved by automatic controlled of fans and chillers. This paper presents a device that trigger an alarm for the user because of the possible damaged that could arise if the system is not stopped or if the user is not intervening. The system is helping us in monitoring the datacenter in which we have installed a Grid system and the network system of the National Institute for Research and Development of Isotopic and Molecular Technologies, which is an important datacenter in the Nord-West part of Transilvania.

The Taylor series — Local iterative linearization method for numerical modeling and simulation of linear processes

Tiberiu Colosi; M. Abrudean; Mihaela-Ligia Unguresan

The paper presents a possible version of systemic approach to model and simulate linear, time invariant processes, highlighting the unitary and systematized character of the procedure. The results can be extended for a large and diversified category of processes, with specific applications of control systems.

Experimental aspects at switching with power MOSFET’s

A. Tulbure; M. Abrudean

The achieved technological developments are creating nowadays new possibilities for electronic designers in the areas of efficiency, power density, reliability and cost. In order to achieve these demands, designers are adopting new circuit topologies like: matrix converters, synchronous rectifiers, active power factor corrections and higher switching frequencies.

Remote monitor and control application for thermal processes using TCP/IP

S. E. Oltean; M. Abrudean; Mircea Dulau

This paper presents a practical approach for remote monitor and control of the electrically heated oven temperature. The digital system contains two main parts: a local digital controller and a server-client application. The digital controller, which controls the temperature of the electrically heated oven, is implemented on a PIC16F628 microcontroller. The server-client application is realized in LabWindows/CVI language and uses TCP/IP protocol for monitoring and controlling the parameters of the temperature local digital controller

Temperature control in the furnace with rotary hearth

Vlad Muresan; M. Abrudean

This paper describes the calculation of the elements that are part of the system that controls automatically the temperature in the furnace with rotary hearth, the calculation of the furnace efficiency and of the maximum value of the disturbance that occurs in the process. We also suggest a circuit to control automatically the temperature in all the 5 sectors of the furnace, considering their interinfluence.

Experimental comparation of switching with IGBT and MOSFET

Adrian Tulbure; D. Turschner; M. Abrudean; E. Ceuca; R. Ormenisan

The modern power electronics are introducing unique challenges like high power dissipation, thermal stress and excessive electromagnetically emissions at the switching module. In order to achieve these demands, modern power electronics uses IGBT and MOSFET in most applications. These components have the ability to increase the power density and reduce system cost. A lot of literature is available about characteristics of IGBT and MOSFET, practical aspects of operating them in some topologies on the different power levels and frequencies. In this paper will be experimentally analyzed the switching behavior of the IGBT and MOS. During this contribution illustrative examples about the voltage and current waveforms will be presented, valid from specified power and control circuit topologies, both on the MOSFET and IGBT-switches. The measurements are presented for both command and power circuit. At the end of the paper are introduced some failure situations because of deviation from safe operation area of semiconductors.

3D control system of the electron beam spot

S. E. Oltean; M. Abrudean

Electron beams have many special properties which make them particularly well suited for use in materials processing, wherever conventional techniques failed or proved to be inefficient. The entire process has many time varying parameters, but some of the most important for the quality of the material processing are given by the directing parts. The paper presents a 3D control system of the electron beam spot which contains the focusing and deflecting components. Due the nature of the process we used a PI control for the deflecting system and an adaptive fuzzy control for the focusing system.
