La Investigación con Relatos de Vida: Pistas y Opciones del Diseño Metodológico

En la investigacion en ciencias sociales, la utilizacion del relato de vida ha mostrado importantes desarrollos, permitiendo articular significados subjetivos de experiencias y practicas sociales. Son variados los trabajos que muestran resultados de investigaciones, asi como variados aquellos que discuten esta particular forma de concebir y articular conceptualmente las dimensiones subjetiva y social. La literatura sin embargo, ha soslayado aspectos del proceso de diseno e implementacion de una investigacion con relatos de vida. Este articulo intenta visibilizar estos aspectos, a la luz de las premisas que sustentan la investigacion desde un enfoque biografico. Se presenta un dispositivo de trabajo implementado en investigaciones realizadas, discutiendo a partir de el las opciones metodologicas tomadas, sugiriendo modos de abordar investigaciones con relatos de vida.

El Enfoque Biográfico: Trayectorias, Desarrollos Teóricos y Perspectivas

En el escenario de las metodologias cualitativas, el enfoque biografico ha ido adquiriendo un lugar relevante. Este enfoque, en la interseccion de lo social y lo psicologico, sostiene que los individuos estan marcados por una dinamica contradictoria entre la accion de determinantes sociales y familiares y el trabajo que el propio sujeto efectua sobre su historia para intentar controlar su curso y otorgarle un sentido. De esta manera, se concibe al sujeto como un producto, un productor y un actor de su historia. Se presenta en este articulo una revision del enfoque biografico analizandolo y situandolo como un enfoque cualitativo y clinico para el quehacer cientifico. Se revisa la trayectoria que este enfoque ha tenido en las ciencias sociales, a traves del aporte que diferentes disciplinas han ido realizando. Se presentan las principales corrientes de desarrollo del enfoque, asi como las principales opciones teoricas que fundan y orientan el quehacer desde el.

Conocimiento Situado y el Problema de la Subjetividad del Investigador/a

El presente articulo tiene por objetivo llevar al campo de las practicas de investigacion el debate respecto a como considerar al conocimiento en las claves objetividad/subjetividad, mas aun cuando las tematicas a trabajar implican directamente al investigador. En particular, se centrara en el planteamiento de los conocimientos situados, donde junto con fundamentar una objetividad rigurosa pero no neutral, se afirma la legitimidad de producir conocimiento cientifico desde quienes estan implicados en las problematicas estudiadas.

Vivienda social y subjetivación urbana en Santiago de Chile: Espacio privado, repliegue presentista y añoranza

Housing policy in Chile has been one of the main routes to “overcome poverty” ever since the return to democracy and have transformed the face of the city both in material and social terms. This research investigated processes of subjectivism of dwellers which underwent the transition from camp to social housing in different neighborhoods of Santiago, a process marked by the emergence of new forms of marginality and fragmentation. Based on an exploratory/comprehensive design and following a qualitative methodology, we analyzed the biographical narratives of twenty social housing dwellers from poor communes of Santiago, who were beneficiaries of the housing policy between the years 2000 and 2009. Results reveal a privatization process in the struggle for housing, followed by an oscillation between the joy of having intimacy and the nostalgia of a less fearful relationship with a mutating identity. We note that this process settles in in the midst of an ethical and political regime that exaggerates the visibility of individual capabilities and eclipses the social and political space that produce their condition, leading dwellers to develop a kind of citizenship that promotes private consumption, thus preserving social fragmentation processes.

Tell me your story about the Chilean dictatorship: When doing memory is taking positions:

The current memory struggles about the Chilean dictatorship makes it increasingly relevant to hear a diverse range of voices on the subject. One way of addressing this is to study autobiographical narratives, in which people construct a character to present themselves as the protagonists of a story by taking multiple positions regarding what is remembered. This article presents a study that analyzed the life stories of Chilean people (diverse in their generations, cities, experiences of political repression, political orientations and socio-economic levels) and that distinguished between the positions that they take when presenting themselves as the protagonists of an autobiographical story about the Chilean dictatorship. The results point to salient and recurrent positions that allow people to earn the right to be considered part of the social history of the dictatorship, that involve different definitions regarding those responsible and the victims of what happened, and that unveil a strong family and filial logic of remembering.
