Paper presents assumptions to build simulation model allowing computational experimentation and inference on impact of various factors on transport modal split and the impact that transport has on environment. It presents a general mathematical model of environmentally friendly transport system and characterizes particular elements of this model. The structure of transport network is mapped with a graph. The characteristics describing elements of this structure, vehicles, and characteristics of harmful compounds emission are given. Model will be implemented in PTV VISUM environment – a tool supporting planning of transport processes as well as analysis and designing of transport systems. The model of proecological transport system developed in PTV VISUM will consist of model of demand for both passenger and freight transport, and model of transport network cooperating with various means of transport. Road and rail vehicles for passenger and freight transport are characterized and divided into groups according to type of fuel and harmful emission. The demand for transport services and emission of exhaust gases components are reflected in model of proecological transport system of Poland. The last part of paper presents a sample of preliminary research on estimating emission from particular type of vehicle.

This paper presents a method of allocation transportation services costs to the carriers clients. Method is based on determining replacement costs for two cost-driven elements: amount of pallet-kilometers and time consumed for services realization in purpose of using it to weight real costs for finding actual share of clients in total costs.

AbstractThe paper describes proecological solution dedicated for organizing logistics services in urban areas. Proposed solution is based on cross-docking processes combined with consolidation centres. Authors proposed new method of estimating economic and social benefits from implementing centrally managed cooperation of logistics operators using common city consolidation hubs. Developed mathematical model bases on Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) with vehicles of different types, limited loading capacities and multiply depots characterized by limited throughput. Proposed approach was supported by case study of integration of distribution processes in Warsaw (Poland) performed by three medium-size logistics operators. The central management of distribution was investigated in variants assuming using existing warehouses and with new configuration of logistics network developed with using SIMMAG 3D tools. As it was proved for analysed case, total costs of distribution in the city after implementation of centr...

The paper presents a certain approach to solving the problem of warehouse locations based on the application of a genetic algorithm. The main objective is to indicate a location of warehouses from among those that already exist, which are most likely to assure the best value of the adopted criterion function, concurrently meeting recipients’ needs. A formal notation was presented of the mathematical model, allowing for the indispensable data, decisionrelated variables of limitations and the criterion function. The problem is to determine the location of warehouses taking into account minimising costs of transport and storage of forwarded cargo between determined facilities within the network. To allow solving the problem related to warehouse location within the logistics network of a manufacturing enterprise the use of a genetic algorithm was proposed. The structure of the algorithm was adapted to the mathematical model. A genetic algorithm was used to determine the volume of cargo stream flows between particular facilities in the network. To form a genetic algorithm it is advisable to define the chromosome structure, the adaptation function, cross-linking process and mutation. The location problem is solved in such a way that if for any day within the analysed period flows take place from a given warehouse or to a given warehouse, such a logistics facility should constitute an element of the target logistics network. If there are no such flows, no warehouse is necessary in the given location.

Paper presents selected aspects of multicriteria decision making in transport. One of the significant problems of modern transport systems is proper assessment of selection of transport system equipment to performed tasks. This assessment is difficult due to the complexity of issues. On the one hand it results from technical limitations, financial and ecological constraints, and public interest, but on the other hand various points of view of individual participants of transportation process trying to maximize their individual advantage must be taken into account. As a result the examination and evaluation of transport systems requires multi-criteria decision-making models. These models allow taking into account a number of contradictory points of view and lead to the identification of a “best compromise”. Assessment of transport organization alternatives was performed by Super Choose application. The application implements ranking method and MAJA method to support decision-making.

This article presents a mathematical formulation of the optimization problem of loading unit formation taking into account the mass of packaging units. Proposed model can be applied to optimize the arrangement of non-uniform cubical loading units in loading spaces. The model ensures possibility of defining various dimensions, masses, resistances of particular packaging units and their vertical axis rotation. Within the constraints of formulating optimization problem, taking into account masses and resistances ensures that all packaging units will rest on a pallet or on other packaging units, and the surface of contact between loading units guarantees stability of units arranged in subsequent layers. The mathematical model was verified. The paper provides an appropriate calculation example.

The paper is a result of research work carried out under the project EMITRANSYS for shaping ecological transport system. The paper presents selected aspects of emission and concentration of harmful compounds of exhaust gases generated by road transport. It also presents the share of harmful compounds emitted by road transport in comparison with the emission from other sectors of economy. Transport policy should encourage the usage of energyefficient and less environmentally damaging modes of transport and their efficient use. The paper analyses the emissions of selected pollutants and their estimated contribution to the total emissions of road transport. It also presents selected aspects of the identification of areas with the highest emissions of harmful compounds in Poland against the European Union. This analysis provides a basis to identify the instruments to prevent and reduce pollution arising from transport activities. In particular, variable emission of selected components of fumes according to the velocity of passenger vehicle. the measured values for NO2 concentration in the UE countries in 2011, the measured values for CO concentration in UE countries in 2011, the measured values for PM10 concentration in UE countries in 2011, the measured values for PM2.5 concentration in UE countries in 2011 are presented in the paper.

Optimizing the selection of transport technology for transport tasks is of particular importance while the improper technology can lead to significant reduction in safety of transported cargoes or in extreme cases to loss of cargo and reduces transport efficiency. This issue is particularly important for perishable products and cargoes. Up until now, there have not been developed any optimization tasks of the selection of multimodal transport technologies for perishable products that would adequately address the transportability of cargo. This paper presents the optimization task for the selection of multimodal transport technologies for perishable products on the example of non-climacteric fruits and vegetables carried in gas, light and liquid impermeable packaging. The task takes into account the criterion of maximizing cargo safety and the criterion of minimizing transport costs. The solution of the exemplary problem of technology selection o with the proposed optimization task is presented.

Companies compete not only on price of offered products and services, but also on the quality, including the time of delivery of the product or service implementation. Contemporary logistics solutions, ensuring high utilization mileage of means of transport, cause, that in transport complex transport cycles are increasingly common. In these cycles as opposed to a simple transport, cycles are realized many transport tasks. The paper presents the classification of the costs of implementing of transport processes in road transport. Taking into account the different cost sharing criteria was proposed their general classification. Were identified means of transport parameters that have the most significant impact on the level of costs in transport. Then, assuming that in one transport cycle can be realized many transport tasks were presented analytical dependences on the implementation costs of transport cycles, as well as the implementation costs of individual transport tasks. Presented in the article approach can be used to calculate costs of implementing full truck transport tasks performed both in complex and simple (special case) cycles. Types of costs in road transport, general classification of costs in the road transport, vehicle parameters affecting the level of direct costs of transport, principles for determining the cost of road transport carriage are presented in the paper.
