Power control in the photonic domain based on integrated arrays of optical variable attenuators in glass-on-silicon technology

Maurizio Lenzi; S. Tebaldini; D. di Mola; S. Brunazzi; L. Cibinetto

An automatic power control system based on arrays of four optical variable attenuators, realized in glass-on-silicon technology, is proposed. The application to a specific optical equipment is then reported and the main features and performances are highlighted.

Optical Interconnects for Network on Chip

Alberto Scandurra; Maurizio Lenzi; Ranieri Guerra; Francesco G. Della Corte; M. Arcangela Nigro

This paper resumes some state-of-the-art results of research in view of the realization of optical interconnects as physical link for network on chip (NoC). Emphasis is given in particular to amorphous silicon technology for its actual technological compatibility with CMOS microchips

Tunable add-drop filter in LPCVD glass-on-silicon technology for OADM-based ring networks

D. Di Mola; Maurizio Lenzi; A. Carrera; S. Rotolo; S. Brunazzi; A. Tanzi

An integrated optical tunable add/drop filter has been realised in LPCVD SiO/sub 2/-Si technology, as a key component of OADM nodes in ring-based networks. The features of the packaged component and some characterisation results are reported.

IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics | 1999

Flat-band add-drop FIR lattice filter design

D. di Mola; G. Sanvito; Maurizio Lenzi; E. Fioravanti

A finite impulse response design method has been successfully applied to flatten and shape the pass bandwidth of resonant coupler add-drop filters. A comparison between a binomial and flat-band design has been presented. Measurements and improvements in filter performance have been highlighted.
