This paper focus on the translation of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) measure into manufacturing sustainability based on literature study. It examines the three OEE contributing factors; availability, performance, and quality; and the sustainable manufacturing components including environmental conservation, social efficiency, and economic enhancement. The OEE measure is not only possible to improve productivity through the identification and elimination of manufacturing major losses but its implementation has its own merits towards sustainable manufacturing. The findings can be used as an initial reference for manufacturers to consider OEE measure to advance the goal of manufacturing sustainability.

Distributed manufacturing system has steadily becoming more significant for topics for researchers within manufacturing industry. It is due to the reason that it could provide higher flexibility for an organization to cope with a demanding and fluctuating market. This paper proposes distributed task assignment mechanism for multi-load Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) operation in manufacturing industry. The architecture is based on multi-agent system (MAS) while the task assignment is based on combinatorial auction method. Additionally, necessary improvement have been made to the standard combinatorial auction method to support dynamic attributes of AGV task assignment mechanism.

This paper proposes a design technique using an S-shaped and C-shaped transition curves. A simple algorithm will be proposed in this paper where this algorithm will be based on Habib and Sakai [1]. In order to use this algorithm, a few constraints are considered such as the continuity, control points, curvature, radius etc. In this paper, we will apply this algorithm to design a spur gear tooth and vase in the two and three dimensional. The function involved is Bezier like cubic function with the smoothness is G2 continuity.

Sustainable practice is needed in every manufacturing industry. To make this practice successfully implemented in manufacturing industry, three indicators must be look into. The three indicators are environmental, economy and social indicator. In this paper, only economy indicator will be looked into for the implementation of intelligence tools. Economy indicator obtained from Design for Remanufacturing (DFREM) consists of several variables where cost will be substituted into the variables. However, industries are unaware that with this practice, an industry can save money and reduce waste from finished part. The industry can implement the economy indicator equation and substitute the cheapest value from several option provided by the supplier. This may cost time but in long term return, DFReM can make an industry to save money. In this paper, three intelligence tools will be used to make the best selection of cost to be substitute in DFReM equation. The intelligence tools are Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP), Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and combination of both FAHP and ANN. The objective of this paper is to compare the output result obtained from three intelligence tool. The final result shows FAHP and ANN provides the best solution, followed by ANN and lastly FAHP. Therefore, combination of FAHP and ANN should be used for selecting alternatives from supplier hence applied in DFReM economy indicator equation.

Since internet of things has brings a lot of benefits in various fields, the benefits in manufacturing is widely explored. While Industry 4.0 offers an integration concepts between current manufacturing devices with IoT. In I4, all the resources are connected, and information exchange became ease in shortest period. In any manufacturing application, statistical process control seems fit to be implemented because it shows the process trend as a tool. In this paper, consideration of the boundaries condition as SPC features is explained. Based on the five un behavioral trend conditions, engineers are able to make a process change and minimize the risk of losses and accidents. Eventually, the concept of SPR as an after Service is proposed, consisted of the combination of the element of IoT and SPC boundaries condition. The SPR as an after Service is proposed to be used for traceability tools in network environment.

The evolvement of Internet of thing (IoT) is undeniable by making the management process become more ease at lowest cost as possible. Product lifecycle management (PLM) is a best approach to be embedded the IoT for the entire manufacturing processes. Real cases reported for weak PLM implemented like late market entry faced by A380 while Toyota faced cost loses in repair, deals and market share from massive called made which effect on company reputations. In this paper, traceability becomes a factor among man, machine and management in order to make fast respond on the data retrieved. The term traceability is measured based on response time in real time system to track the information in just in time for one-to-one communication through JAVA programming and two different operating systems as an approach. The communication can be occurred in less than 20seconds within two different machines. The traceability time is a performance measure for just in time data process which the human behavior factor is neglected for this study. The fastest time response have a potential to optimize the manufacturing management, make more efficient and offer the traceability on product/project status beside improve the flexibility, maintainability, reusability as well as extensibility.

This paper discusses the techniques used for optimization in manufacturing system. Although problem domain is focused on sustainable manufacturing, techniques used to optimize general manufacturing system were also discussed. Important aspects of Design for Remanufacturing (DFReM) considered include indexes, weighted average, grey decision making and Fuzzy TOPSIS. The limitation of existing techniques are most of them is highly based on decision makers perspective. Different experts may have different understanding and eventually scale it differently. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to determine available techniques and identify the lacking feature in it. Once all the techniques have been reviewed, a decision will be made by create another technique which should counter the lacking of discussed techniques. In this paper, shows that the hybrid computation of Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is suitable and fill the gap of all discussed technique.

— The defect is an imperfection that impairs worth or utility. The defects show some disorder of the product and it is opposite the standard or criteria that have been stated.. In order to define the defect, some techniques are being used. One of the technique is using image processing. The image will be captured by the camera and the image appear will be imported to the Scilab software to read it. Otherwise, the image will be translated into histogram graph to show the frequency (pixel) and grayscale value of the defect.Index Terms— Defect image, surface defect, grayscale image, Scilab software, histogram graph

The utilization rate of robots to execute manufacturing processes in Small and Medium Enterprises are steadily increasing not only due to the demand for higher productivity and higher quality but also for the sake of stable throughput and minimizing turnover risk. Prior to the implementation of robotic manufacturing system (RMS), it is very important to properly plan the specific jobs that need to be carried out. Additionally, in order to optimize the efficiency of an industrial robot, the entire operation parameters of the particular purpose should be carefully taken into consideration starting from the planning stage. One of an effective method of planning RMS is through the simulation of the operation, which could be done virtually. This paper proposes the welding work flow and workcell design of an arc welding robot system. Analysis that has been carried out to establish the workcell design includes forward kinematic analysis and robot path planning analysis.

The increasingly challenging and dynamic nature of manufacturing industry has driven organizations to enhance their system efficiency. One of the most important aspects in manufacturing plant is the Material Transportation System (MTS). In order to address dynamic factors, MTS need to be equipped with rescheduling capability. This paper focuses on reactive transportation task assignment to a fleet of autonomous Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). This paper proposes a Mixed Integer Programming method to reschedule transportation tasks for a non-disruptive job shop manufacturing system based on Multi Agent System (MAS) architecture. The result shows that proposed rescheduling method is able to outperform conventional method significantly.
