The purpose of this study was to explore the academic success differences of physical education and sport (PES) college students according to the gender, physical self perception, and sport experience and motivation orientations. For this purpose, 156 second grade students (female=72, male=84) from 3 different physical education and sport colleges, were applied Physical Self-Perception Profile (PSPP) and Academic Motivation Scale (AMS). Besides the students were asked to answer questions about their cumulative academic average (GPA) and sport experience level. The findings of the tests were evaluated in Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 19.0 programme through descriptive statistics, independent samples t test, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. According to the findings of AMS, although significant differences were found between females and males in extrinsic motivation-external regulation and amotivation levels of the students, no significant difference was observed in GPAs. According to the findings of PSPP, male students recorded to have significantly higher averages in sport competence and physical strength sub-scales. When the correlation between gender, physical self-perception, sport experience and academic motivation orientations were tested, only positive correlation was found between intrinsic motivation sub-scales and academic success, and negative correlation was found between amotivation, sport experience level and academic success.

The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship of physical activity (PA) level and healthy life-style behaviors in academic staff in Bartin University, Turkey. The short form of International Physical Activity Questionnaire was administered for the determination of physical activity level of academic staff. Their PA levels were categorised as inactive, minimally active, and physically active by using MET method. For the determination of healthy life-style behaviors, Health-promoting Life-style Profile Questionnaire was used with self-actualization (SA), health responsibility (HR), exercise (E), nutrition (N), interpersonal support (IS), and stress management (SM) subscales. Results of Pearsons Product Moment Correlation analyses indicated significant positive correlations between total physical activity level and exercise (r=0.52; p 0.05). The findings of the study indicated that healthy life- style behaviors were not indicators of physical activity level of academic staff.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of age, sport experience and physical self perception on competition anxiety in female football players. 83 female football players in Premier League division of Turkish professional leagues participated in this study voluntarily. Sport Competitive Anxiety Test (SCAT) was used in order to determine the level of competitive anxiety, and the Physical Self-Perception Inventory was used in order to determine sport ability, physical condition, body attractiveness, strength and general physical competence. According to the results of Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis, competition anxiety was negatively correlated with sport experience (r=.-218; p<0.01), sport ability (r=.-486; p<0.01), physical condition (r=.-461; p<0.01), strength (r=.-283; p<0.01), and general physical competence (r=.-360; p<0.01). On the other hand age was significantly correlated with sport experience (r=.697; p<0.01), sport ability (r=.327; p<0.01), physical condition (r=.461; p<0.01), body attractiveness (r=.551; p<0.01), strength (r=.224; p<0.05), and general physical competence (r=.475; p<0.01). Similarly sport experience was significantly correlated with sport ability (r=.528; p<0.01), physical condition (r=.519; p<0.01), body attractiveness (r=.280; p<0.01), strength (r=.299; p<0.05), and general physical competence (r=.415; p<0.01). As a result of Stepwise Multiple Regression Analyses; age, sport experience, sport ability, physical condition, body attractiveness, strength, general physical competence has caused 37.5% of the competition anxiety. To conclude, the results of the present study pointed out that age, sport experience, sport ability, physical condition, body attractiveness, strength and general physical competence are important factors in determining competition anxiety.
