This article discusses the relation between space and learning, as a way of thinking of modifications or curricula innovations, based on demands from practice. It analyzes experiences with communities developed by nursing schools, schools of dentistry and medical schools. The epistemological / methodological proposal is based on the theories of complexity and of multiple references. Analysis revealed significant learning experiences for the subjects and indicated that it is not enough to define new teaching sites; it is necessary to reflect upon practice, so that it may be a reference for questioning and transforming traditional forms of conceiving the curricula. Furthermore, it indicated that rethinking the curricula signifies developing a new relationship with knowledge, which implies in changes in the relations between the university and the diverse forms of knowledge in existence and the recognition of the value of learning (re)constructed in experience. In conclusion, the article stresses that the university should institute mechanisms for listening to what various actors have to say about the practices it develops and invest in a solid cultural education that is critical with respect to the students.

This is an integrative review that examines the national scientific production on health promotion and nurses practice in the field of primary health care. With the development of the study, it was found that the discussion of this theme is little explored in nursing and that health promotion is still understood as synonymous of health education and / or prevention of disease. It is concluded that health education is an essential strategy to achieve the health promotion, understanding that one is not restricted to the other. Moreover, it is necessary that nurses recognize health promotion as a field of practice can transform social reality and their own practice.

This qualitative study aimed to acknowledge the importance of practice in public and private institutions in the training of nurses in residency programs. Data were collected at two hospitals between February and March 2013, through interviews. From their analysis the following categories emerged: experience of graduate nurses in residency programs in ICUs of public and private institutions and potential for learning in public and private institutions regarding the training of nurses. Differences were detected in the work process and in the profile of patients between the public and private fields, and dissociation between caring and management functions carried out by residents was demonstrated. It was concluded that the development of practices in public and private institutions provides different and complementary experiences which prepare residents for management and care activities, improve management and technical assistance skills, encourages the exercise of in-service education and, by means of surveys, the search for solutions to problems that emerge from daily work.
