Web services discovery provided by the UDDI registries is relatively primitive. It does not take into account the continuous growth in the number of services on the Web. The UDDI standard has been proposed and used for Web service publication and discovery. However, it does not allow users to choose the best provider. It does not offer a mechanism to choose a Web service based on its quality. The standard also lacks of sufficient semantic description in the content of Web services, this lack makes it difficult to find and compose suitable Web services during analysis, search, and matching processes. In addition, a central UDDI suffers from one centralized point problem and the high cost of maintenance. To get around these problems, the authors propose in this paper a novel framework based on mobile agent and metadata catalogue for Web services discovery. Their approach is based on user profile in order to discover appropriate Web services, meeting customer requirements, in less time and taking into account the QoS properties.

Most of the applications of electronic business (e-business) [5] use the traditional client/server model and this model (client/server) constitute an obstacle to the development of application of m-business, in which a commercial operation usually requires a stable communication link being established between the client and the server. In this article, we propose an approach of mobile business based mobile agent with the aim to deploy the mobile agent paradigm for mobile business applications.

Today the enterprise resource planning ERP became a tool that enables uniform and consistent management of information system IS of the company with a large single database. In addition, Data Mining is a technology whose purpose is to promote information and knowledge extraction from a large database. In this paper, an agent-based multi-layered approach for data mining based k-Means through the ERP to extract hidden knowledge in the ERP database is proposed. To achieve this, the authors call the paradigm of multi-agent system to distribute the complexity of several autonomous entities called agents, whose goal is to group records or observations on similar objects classes using the k-means technique that is dedicated the task of clustering. This will help business decision-makers to take good decisions and provide a very good response time by the use of multi-agent system. To implement the proposed architecture, it is more convenient to use the JADE platform while providing a complete set of services and agents comply with the specifications FIPA.

Today the enterprise resource planning (ERP) became the cornerstone of information systems companies. This tool allows a uniform and consistent management information system of the company, especially in the management of the production chain to the sale of a product. In addition, the multi-Agents system (MAS) is a field of very active research. It has become a new modeling approach to solve complex problems. It is a branch that is interested in the collective behaviors resulting from the interactions of several autonomous and flexible entities called agents. The work we propose in this article aims to implement an agent modeling of the ERP thanks to techniques proposed by the MAS. In this article, the JADE platform based on JAVA is the most appropriate, since it is well adapted with the cognitive agents and at the same time, it provides a complete set of services and agents conform to the FIPA specifications.

The current life knows a remarkable development which changes all aspects of our life such as: our working environment, educational system, traveling patterns, sport activitiesâ?¦etc. The busy lifestyle faced by individuals today and the fast pattern of life may lead to their inability to be involved in a process of education. There is also a considerable technological development, especially the development of computing and communication technology. All these factors led to the idea of the need to reduce the time and to benefit from this technology, particularly in the field of education. The way of the classical education is very slow, and the student is obliged to be present at specific times which may be inappropriate for the majority of learners. Moreover, the substantial funds allocated for the success of classical learning process. Thus, it emerged the so-called E-learning via the Internet; the aims of this new mode of learning across the network (web) are to reduce the time of a process of learning â??education- as well as to erase the drawbacks of the classical way of education. Therefore, in E-learning, the learner is not forced to be present at specific times, but he is free to choose the time of learning, which is appropriate with his schedule. Another point that is the adaptation of the content (courses) with the intellectual and social characteristics of the learner and with his background (previous knowledge), which is the main task for each educational system. The technology of Multiagent system is relevant in this area.

Nowadays, development of application that support cooperative works has attracted recent attention. Thus, several approaches and methods were proposed to reach this aim. In this context, we propose a new solution to the problem of collective work, that present a result of hybridization of several cooperative approaches, as follows: the non-communicative approach to minimizing the required time to perform a cooperative activity and conflict resolution approach based competency for improving the quality of cooperative works. Therefore, we propose a cooperation framework fault tolerant called CoMAS (Cooperative Multi-Agent System) brings preemption resources to cooperating agents (CA) in case of failure to prevent the blocking and ensure the survival of the system. Moreover, we study the case of cooperative authoring systems for e-learning to examine the behavior of our framework with a cooperative activity. Finally, our cooperation approach provides a generic and extensible solution that covers the whole cycle of a cooperation process.

In Reconfigurable Manufacturing Systems (RMSs), the structure of the system can be changed during execution of the system. This reconfiguration can be motivated by a new requirement in the production process, or to avoid some problems caused by machines breakdowns. These systems offer a high flexibility leading to more productivity and efficiency. However, their design is more complicated implying new techniques and paradigms. The use of formal high level Petri Nets offers the ability to design these systems and to analyse or prove their properties. In this paper, we apply Reconfigurable Object Nets (RONs) for the modelling, simulation and analysis of reconfigurable manufacturing systems. We propose a formal approach, where the reconfiguration is specified as graph transformations, the simulation is realized using the RON-tool, and the analysis exploits some software tools such as TINA-tool and PIPE-tool.

The key task for the web, namely, web searches, is evolving towards some novel form of semantic web search. In fact, most information retrieval systems are based on static vectors representations. Two major difficulties when a researcher uses current information retrieval systems are how to filter out irrelevant documents, and how to discover latest or more significant documents. Recently a very promising approach to semantic web search is based on combining standard web pages and search queries with ontological background knowledge. In this perspective we will describe a model to hold a document’s noise, and incompleteness. For this, we merge a syntactic keyword search with purely semantic search based domain ontology and a multi-agent system to solve such distributed problems. Then we perform a ranking algorithm on returned documents, and we propose a new semantic similarity measure between concepts based on the WordNet taxonomy structure.

One of the hospitals daily life challenges is providing to patients, medical staff and visitors the proper instructions specifically. In order to render it easy and smooth, we should ask the medical staffs, patients and visitors to go to the hospital education and learning within the diversity of possible information and communication technologies solutions. We designed a system based on a ubiquitous learning scenario. MASUL have been developed on the basis of this solution, which aims to train participants on the use of ubiquitous learning systems.

Purpose n n n n nThe success of web services involved the adoption of this technology by different service providers through the web, which increased the number of web services, as a result making their discovery a tedious task. The UDDI standard has been proposed for web service publication and discovery. However, it lacks sufficient semantic description in the content of web services, which makes it difficult to find and compose suitable web services during the analysis, search, and matching processes. In addition, few works on semantic web services discovery take into account the user’s profile. The purpose of this paper is to optimize the web services discovery by reducing the search space and increasing the number of relevant services. n n n n nDesign/methodology/approach n n n n nThe authors propose a new approach for the semantic web services discovery based on the mobile agent, user profile and metadata catalog. In the approach, each user can be described by a profile which is represented in two dimensions: personal dimension and preferences dimension. The description of web service is based on two levels: metadata catalog and WSDL. n n n n nFindings n n n n nFirst, the semantic web services discovery reduces the number of relevant services through the application of matching algorithm “semantic match”. The result of this first matching restricts the search space at the level of UDDI registry, which allows the users to have good results for the “functional match”. Second, the use of mobile agents as a communication entity reduces the traffic on the network and the quantity of exchanged information. Finally, the integration of user profile in the service discovery process facilitates the expression of the user needs and makes intelligible the selected service. n n n n nOriginality/value n n n n nTo the best knowledge of the authors, this is the first attempt at implementing the mobile agent technology with the semantic web service technology.
