Role of amphiphilic surfactant in electrochemical and spectroscopic behavior of p-nitrophenoxyalkyl ammonium salts

Abstract Previously published results concerning electrochemical reductions in the presence of amphiphilic surfactants report two phenomena: potential shift and decrease in intensity of polarographic waves. Polarographic and spectroscopic data analysis is consistent with a bent conformation of the electroactive ammonium salt molecules in the double layer and micelles.

Etude electrochimique des complexes formes par dissolution de CrBr3, 6H2O dans le N,N-dimethylformamide et de leurs equilibres en solution. Influence de l'addition d'ions X− (X = Cl, Br)

The identification of several complex cations formed during the solubilization of hexahydrated chromium bromide in DMF and their evolution during time has been investigated from the electrochemical reduction curves and the visible absorption spectra. With chloride anions in the solution, a rapid insertion of the chloride ions into the internal chromium complexation sphere can take place, which leads to formation of [Cr(DMF)4Cl2]+ and then [Cr(DMF)3Cl3] from [Cr(DMF)5Br]2+ first formed.
