Monoterpenoid furanocoumarin lactones from clausena anisata

Vijai Lakshmi; Dhan Prakash; Kanwal Raj; Randhir S. Kapil; Satya P. Popli

Abstract A reinvestigation of Clausena anisata has yielded imperatorin, xanthotoxol, lansamide-I and three new furanocoumarin lactone derivatives: indicolactone, anisolactone and 2′,3′-epoxyanisolactone. The structures of these compounds have been elucidated by a combination of spectroscopic and chemical methods.

Phytochemistry | 1995

Cordioside, a clerodane furano diterpene glucoside from Tinospora cordifolia

Versha Wazir; Rakesh Maurya; Randhir S. Kapil

Abstract The structure of cordioside isolated from the stem of Tinospora cordifolia was characterized on the basis of NMR spectroscopy.

Bacteriostatic heterocycles from Euodia lunu-ankenda☆

Mangala D. Manandhar; Falak A. Hussaini; Randhir S. Kapil; Aboo Shoeb

Abstract A new constituent characterized as 8-acetyl-3,4-dihydroxy-5,7-dimethoxy-2,2-dimethylchroman has been isolated together with alloevodionol-7-methyl ether, 4-methoxy-1-methyl-2(1H)quinolinone, evolitrine, isoevodionol and its methyl ether from the aerial parts of Euodia lunu-ankenda. Its structure was confirmed by its transformation to alloevodionol-7-methyl ether. 4-Methoxy-1-methyl-2(1H)quinolinone and its isomer were synthesized by a modified procedure.

Phytochemistry | 1995

Clerodane diterpenoids from Tinospora cordifolia

Rakesh Maurya; Versha Wazir; Anjulika Tyagi; Randhir S. Kapil

Abstract Tinosponone and tinocordioside have been isolated from the stem of Tinospora cordifolia . The structures were established by spectroscopic studies and chemical correlation.

New alkaloids from Tabernaemontana divaricata

Kamesh Rastogi; Randhir S. Kapil; Satya P. Popli

Abstract A re-investigation of the root bark of Tabernaemontana divaricata resulted in the isolation of 18 compounds, viz. α-amyrin acetate, lupeol acetate, α-amyrin, lupeol, cycloartenol, β-sitosterol, campesterol, benzoic acid, aurantiamide acetate, coronaridine, coronaridine hydroxyindolenine ( 1 ), ibogamine, 5-hydroxy-6-oxocoronaridine ( 6 ), 5-oxocoronaridine ( 9 ), 6-oxocoronaridine ( 10 ), (±)-19-hydroxycoronaridine ( 11 ), 3-oxocoronaridine ( 12 ) and voacamine. The alkaloids 6 , 9 , 10 and 11 are new compounds, whereas cycloartenol, campesterol, ibogamine, benzoic acid, aurantiamide acetate and coronaridine hydroxyindolenine are reported from this plant for the first time.

Toddasin, a new dimeric coumarin from Toddalia asiatica.

Padam N. Sharma; Aboo Shoeb; Randhir S. Kapil; Satya P. Popli

Abstract A new dimeric coumarin, named toddasin and possessing a cyclohexene ring with a vinylic side-chain interposed between the two coumarin moieties has been isolated from the roots of Toddalia asiatica. It has been characterized as (E)-8,8′-[1″,4″-dimethyl-3″ -cyclohexen-1″,2″-ylene vinylene]-bis-[5,7-dimethoxycoumarin] (1). The proposed structure is supported by the mass fragmentation of its dihydro derivative (2).

Phytochemistry | 1996

Puetuberosanol, an epoxychalcanol from Pueraria tuberosa☆

Riaz A. Khan; Pawan K. Agrawal; Randhir S. Kapil

Abstract A novel chalcane derivative, puetuberosanol has been isolated from Pueraria tuberosa and its structure was deduced as 3′-hydroxy-4′-phenoxy-α,β-epoxychalcan-α′-ol, on the basis of 2D NMR spectroscopic evidence.

Phytochemistry | 1983

A furanoeremophilane from Vitex negundo

Surendra P. Vishnoi; Aboo Shoeb; Randhir S. Kapil; Satya P. Popli

Abstract Acetyl oleanolic acid, sitosterol and a new furanoeremophilane characterized as 3-formyl-4,5-dimethyl-8-oxo-5 H -6,7-dihydronaphtho(2,3- b )furan have been isolated from the roots of Vitex negundo .

Phytochemistry | 1982

8-hydroxydihydrochelerythrine and arnottianamide from roots of Toddalia asiatica☆

Padam N. Sharma; Aboo Shoeb; Randhir S. Kapil; Satya P. Popli
