This paper proposes a n Mshij? QPSK receiver for microcellular TDMMDD systems. The receiver is suited for an all digital implementation. It assumes a coarse automatic gain-control (AGC), which is updated digitally. The receiver uses a new maximumlikelihood (ML) based scheme for fast synchronization in its all-digital timing recovery circuit. The proposed timing acquisition scheme is independent of the AGC setting and does not suffer from hangups..
