Technical and tactical soccer players' performance in conceptual small-sided games

El uso de los juegos reducidos conceptuales (JRC) puede ser una interesante metodologia para entrenar a la imprevisibilidad inherente en el juego de futbol. Nuestro objetivo en este estudio fue investigar por videogrametria los principios tecnico-tacticos adoptadas en respuesta a las respectivas reglas de dos JRC distintos (posesion del balon y la progresion a la meta). El estudio incluyo a 24 atletas divididos en equipos de 6 jugadores. Nuestros datos muestran que los principios de organizacion de los JRC crean diferentes situaciones con diferentes grados de dificultad. Es decir, es posible sistematizar el desarrollo de los componentes tecnicos y tacticos de una manera a enfatizar los conceptos adoptados para este estudio en el contexto del juego. Nuestros datos acreditan JRC para el aprendizaje de situaciones tecnicas tacticas que, junto con la preparacion fisica adecuada puede ayudar a producir jugadores capacitados a unir cada vez mas pensamientos y acciones en diferentes situaciones.

O ensino dos jogos esportivos coletivos: as competências essenciais e a lógica do jogo em meio ao processo organizacional sistêmico

Neste artigo descritivo e propositivo temos como objetivo abordar o processo de ensino dos jogos esportivos coletivos, partindo do pressuposto que devem ser entendidos a partir da natureza ontologica do jogo, do processo organizacional e da logica inerente dos jogos coletivos. Propomos o processo de ensino tendo por referencia a concepcao de competencias essenciais, as quais emanam da interacao entre as referencias funcionais e estruturais, as quais regulam a logica do jogo. Portanto, lancamos as bases para o desenvolvimento de uma metodologia pautada no jogo e dos parâmetros para a estruturacao do curriculo de formacao baseado em competencias. Palavras chaves : jogos esportivos coletivos, competencias essenciais, logica do jogo, processo organizacional sistemico.

The tactical dimension must be understood like a soccer teaching and learning center, taking an organized character, interdependency, intentionality and conscious. This article was focused in concepts and content to support a teaching-learning process, based on tactical and interdependence dimension about three basics aspects: the tactical understand methodology, the game principles and game models. At this article was also described and suggested specifics game principles and game models for different groups of youth people, which are composed by common peculiarities to team invasion sports, and own of the game culture.

Effects of Youth Participation in Extra-Curricular Sport Programs on Perceived Self-Efficacy: A Multilevel Analysis:

The present study examined extracurricular sport participation variables and developmental context in relationship to perceived self-efficacy among underserved adolescents. Participants (n = 821, 13.6 ± 1.5 years) completed the Youth Experience in Sport questionnaire and General Self-Efficacy Scale. We used the Human Development Index (HDI) to characterize developmental contexts. Multilevel regression models were used to explore the relative contributions of age, sex, years of participation in extracurricular sport, HDI, and perceived positive experience in sport. Our results highlight that positive experience alone and in interaction with length of participation in the program fostered perceived self-efficacy. Participants from higher HDI contexts remained longer in the program. An implication of our research is that variables linked to positive sport experiences and perceived self-efficacy can be used as markers to evaluate the outcomes and impact of sport participation programs aimed at promoting positive youth development.

Youth sports coaches in social programmes: the ecology of human development

The importance of sports in youth development has been recognised, particularly among those who are vulnerable and at social risk (Côté & Hancock, 2014; Whitley, Hayden, & Gould, 2015). This relevance has increased with the surge of theories of positive development in the last 30 years supporting sport participation as a tool and context capable to promote positive outcomes (Larson, Walker, Rusk, & Diaz, 2015; Scales, 2011). The coaches’ role here is acknowledged as a key factor in shaping the quality of youth experiences in sport (Ericson & Côté, 2016; Gonçalves, Silva, Cruz, & Figueiredo, 2010; Haudenhuyse, Theeboom, & Coalter, 2012). Sport experiences have been associated with several benefits throughout the lifespan (Neely & Holt, 2014; Lee & Martinek, 2013). This assumption justifies the promotion of sport participation programmes around the world, mainly in contexts of violence, poverty, ethno-religious conflicts and displaced populations. Consequently, the demand for professionals with specific competences and skills capable of serving these programmes has increased, whether their objective is to create an environment with potential for change or to provide positive stability for the development of youth. Considering that coaches may be exposed to contexts of vulnerability and social risk, they still need to adopt pro-social attitudes such as establishing themselves as significant adults often through assuming principles and values that may foster positive expectations for youngsters′ lives. Despite the recognised importance of the coach′s responsibility in this regard, there is still a gap in the study of youth coach development in contexts of vulnerability and social risk. This is because much of the available information has only focused on the role of coaches for the positive development of youth (Camiré, Trudel, & Forneris, 2014; Ericson & Côté, 2016). Consequently, the study of coaches’ development in such contexts is sparse.

Developmental Benefits of Extracurricular Sports Participation Among Brazilian Youth

Youth sporting activities have been explored as a way to impact positive personal transformation and development, glaringly demonstrated by world-wide investments in public policies, programs, and projects. We studied positive effects of participation in sports on the developmental assets of 614 adolescents (13.1 ± 1.7 years) actively engaged in extracurricular sport programs targeted at socially disadvantaged youths, from five municipalities across five states of the southern, south-eastern and north-eastern regions of Brazil. Participants responded to a developmental assets questionnaire designed to capture sociodemographic and human development data. Multilevel logistic regression was used to explore associations between years of participation in sport and human development indicators, controlling for age and sex. Our results showed that the quality of the young people’s support network and duration of program participation positively influenced sport participation, which, in turn, was associated with willingness to learn. A strong association was also observed between sport participation and developmental assets. Thus, we offer new evidence of a relationship between positive development and environmental factors in which individual and contextual forces can be aligned, and we provide new reference data for developing countries.

VARIABILIDADE DO DESEMPENHO NO LINE-DRILL TEST EM ADOLESCENTES JOGADORES DE BASQUETEBOL

Introducao: A pratica de basquetebol durante a adolescencia aumenta o tamanho corporal e o desempenho funcional. O basquetebol envolve esforcos maximos de curta duracao com mudancas de direcao que utilizam o metabolismo anaerobico e a agilidade. Objetivo: Examinar a variacao do desempenho no Line-drill Test em adolescentes jogadores de basquetebol (n = 59, faixa etaria 9 a 15 anos) com relacao ao estado de maturacao somatica (idade estimada do pico da velocidade de crescimento [PVC]) e a variacao do tamanho corporal. Metodos: Foi considerada a idade cronologica, o tempo previsto para a idade do PVC pelo protocolo maturity offset, a estatura e a massa corporal medidas por antropometria e o desempenho no Line-drill Test. Foram utilizados modelos alometricos proporcionais para controlar a variacao associada ao tamanho corporal, idade cronologica e estado de maturacao na variacao interindividual no Line-drill Test. Resultados: Observou-se uma relacao linear negativa elevada entre o desempenho no Line-drill Test e a idade cronologica (r = - 0,64, IC 95% -0,77 a -0,46, p < 0,01). A relacao entre o desempenho no Line-drill Test e o tempo ate a idade do PVC mostrou ser nao linear, indicando desaceleracao na variacao do desempenho, aproximadamente entre a idade do PVC e um ano apos o PVC predito. Os modelos alometricos mostraram uma relacao negativa entre o tamanho corporal e o desempenho no Line-drill Test. A amplitude da variância explicada nos modelos alometricos proporcionais foi de 0,28 a 0,48. Foram observados expoentes negativos de pequena magnitude para a idade cronologica e para o indicador de maturacao, sendo, porem, significativos e de amplitude reduzida (-0,05 a -0,06). Conclusao: A utilizacao de modelos alometricos para controlar a influencia do tamanho corporal tem o potencial de ajudar a compreender o desenvolvimento dos desempenhos de agilidade durante a adolescencia em jogadores de basquetebol.
