The article intends to rethink the managerial formation subject, and highlights, two narrowly linked aspects it this theme: a) it analyzes the use of the Learning in the Action approach in long duration managerial formation courses; b) it introduces a debate concerning the alternatives to overcome the difficulties regarding the effectiveness of those courses in solving business problems. From these objectives, the article examines the possibilities for using Learning in the Action processes in post-graduation Lato Sensu courses (as MBAs) as a way to connect theoretical information and personal/professional experience. In this sense, it analyzes the subject of the learning strategy to be so or more important than the specific contents of the disciplines and seminars, at least in what refers to the development of certain types of competences. Finally, it proposes a conception that seeks to establish more systematic connections among the analyzed courses and the competences development process. That conception is based on the emergency of new paradigms in the field of learning and managerial formation whose foundations concentrate on the Learning in the Action approach, with prominence for the notion of Communities of Practice in the organizations.

An analysis carried out in Brazilian programs of executive education reveals that the curricula and the pedagogic methods of these courses are not completely linked with particularities of the work environment, so they are apart of the conditions in which the competences will be developed. Based on surveys and interviews applied to around 300 students participating in 14 programs of managerial formation, this articles points out the contribution of some learning approaches: social learning systems, experiential learning, situated leaning and learning communities. The objective of this proposal is to build some references for competence development in programs of executive education.

This paper intends to identify and analyze important issues in the discussion about the Executive Master Programs (Mestrado Modalidade Profissional, MPA) in Brazil. Starting with a general view about the requirements that motivate the executive development programs more important in Brazil (Lato Sensu Postgraduate or Certificate Level Programs and Stricto Sensu Postgraduate or Master of Science and Executive Master Business Administration Programs), it characterizes the response conditions by each one of them related to these requirements. At the same time, it introduces the notion of competence as a key issue to evaluate the effectiveness of these programs. Finally, based on these issues and characterizing the advantages of MPA programs, it concludes by identifying the reasons that have stimulated its strong dissemination in the general executive development programs.

Over the years, technology parks have attracted organizations seeking competitiveness through innovation and technological cooperation. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the competencies contained within a technology park, TECNOPUC, and the competitiveness of the Information Technology (IT) firms located within it. A qualitative exploratory study was conducted involving experts on the topic, the Park managers and managers from seven firms located in the Park. The findings reveal the perception that the brand TECNOPUC and the working environment provided by the Park are the competencies that are more closely related to the competitiveness of the firms located within it. The managers interviewed seem to be in the Park in search of business opportunities with large corporations, focusing their actions on reducing costs in order to achieve greater competitiveness. Rather than developing or selling technology, the priority seems to be selling products and services. Thus, actions aimed at encouraging and promoting research, technological development and innovations, such as the implementation of joint projects, for example, are not prioritized.

O presente artigo trata das contribuicoes dos processos de aprendizagem organizacional no ambiente fabril, com base em pesquisa qualitativa, na forma de estudo de caso multiplo, desenvolvida em tres organizacoes produtivas do segmento automobilistico. O foco principal da pesquisa foi identificar, analisar e sistematizar processos de aprendizagem dentre as atividades e praticas de producao realizadas nas tres empresas, com base na percepcao de gestores, operadores e facilitadores dessas unidades, sustentado por instrumentos de coleta de dados como entrevistas, pesquisa a documentos e observacao direta. Dentre os principais resultados da pesquisa destacamos, em primeiro lugar, as evidencias de diferentes tipos de processos de aprendizagem que ocorrem nesses ambientes, alguns deles contribuindo de maneira significativa para o desempenho operacional dessas empresas; segundo, que os atores desses ambientes nao exploram devidamente o potencial desses processos de aprendizagem, pois nao apresentam preparacao conceitual e metodologica para tal empreendimento; finalmente, que a apropriacao e difusao de processos de aprendizagem no campo das operacoes de producao, assim como suas dificuldades principais, estao diretamente vinculados ao ambiente e a cultura da organizacao.
