Responsividade materna: levantamento bibliográfico e discussão conceitual

Adriana Ferreira Paes Ribas; Maria Lucia Seidl de Moura; Rodolfo de Castro Ribas Junior

The present article had two main objectives: To supply an overview of the research on maternal responsivity and to present a discussion of the concept of maternal responsivity. A systematic search on an international bibliographic database (PsycInfo n APA) was conducted. Records of articles published between 1967 and 2001, that contained any of the five selected key phrases (e.g. maternal responsiveness), were systematically identified and analyzed. A total of 231 articles were identified. Systematic searches on two Brazilian databases were also conducted and five works were identified. The identified articles were analyzed taking into account different aspects (e.g. approaches, theoretical basis, level of analysis, investigation areas). The conclusions point to three issues: 1) the necessity to account for variables such as social support and cultural differences in researches on maternal responsivity; 2) the possible integration of this theme into the sociocultural approaches; 3) the necessity of more Brazilian research.

BACKGROUND: The Compulsive Buying Scale is a short and easy-to-apply instrument, which comprises the main dimensions of the compulsive buying disorder, focusing on impulse control. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to validate and assess the reliability of the Brazilian version of the Compulsive Buying Scale. METHODS: To assess construct validity, a factor analysis with principal components extraction and Varimax rotation was conducted. The correlations between the CBS and measures for depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder were assessed with the Pearson coefficient, evaluating convergent and divergent validity. The internal consistency was measured using Cronbachs alpha coefficient. RESULT: The psychometric parameters of the Brazilian version of the CBS were satisfactory and the instrument was considered valid and reliable. The CBS showed an inversely correlation with other diagnostic scales for the compulsive buying disorder. Cronbachs alpha coefficient (0.86) was high, demonstrating a satisfactory reliability of the Portuguese CBS. DISCUSSION: Although the Brazilian version of the Compulsive Buying Scale is a short version with just a few items, the scale has excellent psychometric properties, presenting itself as an important tool to detect and evaluate compulsive buying disorder.

State of the Art of Job Satisfaction Measures: A Systematic Review

Gabriela Hora; Rodolfo de Castro Ribas Junior; Marcos Aguiar de Souza

Job satisfaction is a psychological variable that has been studied in contemporary organizational science due to its relation with a series of variables such as performance, turnover, organizational commitment and resilience. One problem found in the scientifi c literature is the lack of uniformity regarding the use of measures of job satisfaction. In order to identify the state of the art of instruments that evaluate work satisfaction worldwide, in Latin America and in Brazil, a systematic review on the Web of Knowledge, Scopus and SciELO bases has been conducted. The search generated a list of 357 articles that, after applying exclusion criteria, were reduced to 154. Altogether 62 different scales were found in 42 different countries around the world. Regarding the overall results, two scales were identifi ed as the most used in the international studies, as well as in relation to the studies carried out in Latin America. In Brazil, only one scale could be considered.

ECOCENTRISMO E COMPORTAMENTO: REVISÃO DA LITERATURA EM VALORES AMBIENTAIS

Pedro Pires; Rodolfo de Castro Ribas Junior; Daniel Campos Lopes Lemos; Alberto Filgueiras

This study consists of a literary review on researches about Ecocentrism. The term was defined to specify a set of values and beliefs of human beings about their relationship with the environment. Since the 1970s, psychological science has been interested in these beliefs and values as object of study. For the literary review, national indexers (BVS-PSI and Scielo) and international indexers (ISI Web of Knowledge e Scopus) were consulted, compiling investigations on five major themes: (1) the role of information, (2) personality, (3) green consumption, (4) cultural aspects and social roles and (5) measurements in ecocentrism. With this review it was concluded that there is a need for a greater effort in national contributions in the field, whereas the international scenario faces a scarcity of studies about human development and concrete intervention strategies for the promotion of pro-environmental behaviors. This study consists of a literary review on researches about Ecocentrism.
