Perfil da clientela de um programa de pronto-atendimento psicológico a estudantes universitários

Researches indicate that the characterization of the clientele of university psychology clinics provides information to the service improvement. This study aims to draw the social-demographic and clinic profile of the clients assisted by the Service of Student Psychological Emergency of UNESP/Assis during 2000 and 2001. Data indicate that most of the clients were female students of Psychology, recently enrolled at the university, aging from 19 to 22. They initially complained about moderate psychological distress and initiated psychotherapy. The analysis of this characterization has supported changes in the service and the creation of new service modalities.

O corpo na psicanálise contemporânea: sobre as concepções psicossomáticas de Pierre Marty e Joyce McDougall

This paper has as purpose present some considerations on Pierre Martys and Joyce McDougalls theoretical conceptions. Such purpose is justified because the referred authors are two of the most important exponents of psychoanalytical psychosomatic and, thus, offer great relevance contributions for understanding of organic illnesses psychological determinant. Besides, Marty and McDougall introduce concepts on psychoanalysis those are not still properly incorporate to the specialized scientific literature. Consequently, was considered relevant to focus in this paper the discussion of two of those concepts: operational thinking and disaffection.

Breast cancer, poverty and mental health: emotional response to the disease in women from popular classes

O objetivo do estudo foi analisar as reacoes emocionais ao câncer de mama em um grupo de mulheres de camadas populares. A amostra foi composta por 15 pacientes vinculadas a uma entidade assistencial de apoio a mastectomizadas. Os dados foram coletados mediante o emprego de roteiro semi-estruturado de entrevista individual e apreciados em conformidade com um sistema de classificacao que postula a existencia de quatro categorias mutuamente excludentes: negacao, estoicismo, aflicao e enfrentamento. Os resultados obtidos indicam que o estoicismo foi a resposta emocional mais frequente entre as pacientes analisadas. A literatura mostra que tal reacao pode contribuir para a reducao temporaria do estresse, porem, conduz gradativamente ao invalidismo que tende a dificultar o ajustamento psicossocial a doenca e ao tratamento.This study aimed to analyze the emotional response of a low-income group of women to the breast cancer. The sample was composed by 15 patients from a mastectomized womens support entity. Data were collected through individual face-to-face semi-structured interview. The results were appraised according to a classification system that postulates the existence of four categories mutually excluding: denial, stoicism, affliction and confrontation. The results obtained indicate that stoicism was the more frequent emotional response in the evaluated group. The scientific literature shows that stoicism can contribute to the temporary reduction of stress, but it gradually leads to a uselessness feeling which tends to make difficult the psychosocial adjustment to the disease and its treatment.

Atendimento psicológico a estudantes universitários: considerações acerca de uma experiência em clínica-escola

O presente estudo tem como objetivo descrever o Programa de Pronto-Atendimento Psicologico ao Aluno (PPAPA). Trata-se de um servico de atendimento psicologico oferecido gratuitamente junto a clinica-escola da Faculdade de Ciencias e Letras de Assis (UNESP) e voltado exclusivamente a comunidade discente interna. Apresentaremos ao longo do artigo uma breve caracterizacao do servico, algumas consideracoes acerca das modalidades de atendimento e estrategias de intervencao empregadas e uma sucinta problematizacao do manejo de questoes tecnicas e eticas. Por fim, alinhavaremos algumas propostas para a reestruturacao do servico.

Impacto psicológico do diagnóstico do câncer de mama: um estudo a partir dos relatos de pacientes em um grupo de apoio

Breast cancer diagnosis’ psychological impact: a study since patients’ reports in a support group. This study aimed to analyze breast cancer diagnosis’ psychological impact since reports spontaneously presented during sessions of a support group for women diagnosed with this disease. Using the saturation criterion, 18 sessions of the referred support group were selected, in which, in total, 93 women participated. The collected data were submitted to a qualitative appreciation by a thematic analysis of content. The obtained results show that breast cancer diagnosis caused, among an expressive number of participants, an important psychological impact, once unchained surprise and tension experiences, stimulated acceptance and force demonstrations, motivated explanation attempts, redefined relationships and intensified religiosity. The comprehension of each one of those processes, in their positive and negative dimensions, supplies useful elements for the improvement of psychological services offered to this population.

Contribuições das técnicas projetivas gráficas para a compreensão da personalidade de andarilhos de estrada

Contributions of graphic projective techniques for the understanding of highway wanderers’ personality. Research results indicate that the highway wanderers’ desertion involves socioeconomic and psychological factors. The objective of the present study was the investigation of the highway wanderers’ personality. For so much, the Hammers’ Graphic Battery was applied to a group of 23 highway wanderers sheltered in an caring institution. The collected data was evaluated and interpreted by the utilization of meanings attribution’s criteria supplied by the scientific literature. Data analysis indicate that the participants possess a corporal image committed by inferiority feelings and inadequacy and an affective organization marked by sexual conflicts, primary defense mechanisms and a vehement tendency to isolation in interpersonal relationships. Such results supply subsidies for the understanding of some personality characteristics of the researched individuals. However, the corroboration of these hypotheses depends on the accomplishment of new empirical studies.

Relações entre a personalidade dos pacientes e a sobrevivência após o transplante de medula óssea: revisão da literatura

Bone marrow transplant (BMT) is a medical procedure used in case of serious illness treatment, that is, when the conventional therapeutic modalities do not offer a good prognostic. Recent researches suggest that, the patients personality is a decisive psychosocial factor for adaptation and recovery after BMT procedure. The present paper intends to evaluate the scientific productions regarding the patients personality and its relation to post-BMT survival. Data collection was carried out by using on-line searches in the different bibliographical identification systems available. The results obtained suggest the need for new researches, because understanding the relation between the patientspersonality and the post-BMT survival can aid the individual/patient in both, in the prevention, as well as in the maintenance of the bio-psychosocial well being.

Funcionamento psíquico e manejo clínico de pacientes somáticos: reflexões a partir da noção de desafetação

The aim of this article is to show a theorical and clinical view of the psychosomatic conceptions of Joyce McDougall. The notion of disaffection will be used as a conceptual basic operator. It is a disturbance of the affective economy typical of somatic patients, which promotes an almost total incapacity to keep contact with their own emotions and someone elses. Among others specialities of the clinical psychoanalysis with somatic patients, the professional will be obliged to work as a filter capable to regulate the affluence of excitements that tends to unchain corporal discharges because the impossibility, associated to the disaffection, to use words to make them speakable.
