Roman Hrmo; Daniel Kučerka; Lucia Krištofiaková

The KEGA project No. 026STU-4/2011 “The model of assessing the quality vocational training in the secondary vocational schools in Slovakia” deals with the analysis of the approaches to quality assessment of vocational education and training at home and abroad, and developing and piloting a model of quality assessment of education and training at the secondary vocational schools in the Slovak Republic. One of the quality evaluation criteria in this area is the quality of textbooks, which is being dealt with in this paper. The aim of this paper is to introduce the reader into the subject of information competencies, e-learning and the methods for assessing the quality of textbooks. The contribution informs about the quality research of an e-learning textbook for the subject of Machine Production developed for the first-year students of post-secondary course majoring in 6476 4 - training the technical-economic staff. The research covered teachers of technical subjects in the secondary vocational schools of engineering focus, including the Secondary Vocational School of Automobile Industry (SOŠA) Trnava, the Secondary Vocational School (SOŠ) Senec, as well as the teachers of engineering subjects with a focus on non-engineering subjects, such as Secondary Vocational School of Electrical Engineering (SOŠE) Trnava. The research showed that e-learning material is better than the classical textbooks available. The teachers assessed a total of 616 properties in the range of 0, 1 and 2 of the assessment scale.

Roman Hrmo; Juraj Miština; Lucia Krištofiaková

Technical and vocational education and training (TVET) makes a significant contribution to economic competitiveness and welfare in a global knowledge-based economy. The main challenge for vocational education and training is to meet the changing skills needs of individuals and the world of work in accordance with the principle of lifelong learning. Authors introduces the project “Model for improving the quality of graduates and job applicants in the European labour market” elaborated and submitted by the two Slovak institutions of higher education - Dubnica Institute of Technology in Dubnica nad Vahom and the University of SS. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, Slovakia. The paper presents research results of the Slovak National Project supported by the Slovak National Grant Agency KEGA. Below, we are focussing mainly on evaluation of methodology for improving professional language competences of students of secondary technical and vocational schools through the so called “Project Semester”.

Design, Development and Implementation of E-learning Course for Secondary Technical and Vocational Schools of Electrical Engineering in Slovakia

Juraj Miština; Jana Jurinova; Roman Hrmo; Lucia Krištofiaková

Electronic course development tools for web-based training make crucial prerequisites to meet the target group instructional design requirements, and ways it has to be delivered to the trainees. The unsatisfactory situation in teaching technical subjects was an incentive to search for the innovative forms and methods of education and modernizing the educational process, and a stimulus to apply them into educational practice. The authors draw attention to the design of methodology for development of multimedia presentations with elements of e-learning. They introduce the design, development and implementation of Multimedia Educational Aid (MEA) developed on the basis of the proposed methodology, multimedia processing and Flash, PHP and XML technology. They used this tool in the educational process of secondary technical and vocational schools in Slovakia with emphasis on achieving greater clearness of abstract concepts included in the thematic unit “Electricity”. Conducting research methods, they investigated experimental and control group of students using Niemierko’s taxonomy of educational objectives and Simpson’s taxonomy of educational objectives to verify the seat up hypothesis. The aim was to raise the students’ active approach to this issue. The paper presents results achieved by natural pedagogical experiment.

The paper deals with the project KEGA 026STU-4/2011 Quality Evaluation Model of Vocational Education and Training at secondary vocational schools in Slovakia. The aim of project is to create assumptions for development of an independent and institutional system, which will create and apply an open, flexible and adaptable quality management system of formal education through benchmarking and quality mark. It includes the creation of specialized portal with support services that will provide insight and specific information in the field of quality management in vocational education to interested persons. Based on collected information and analysis we identified quality evaluation indicators at secondary vocational schools. Next part of the paper is focussed on burnout syndrome. Our study focuses on the impact of burnout syndrome on secondary vocational teachers in Slovakia and in some other countries.

Currently, composite materials are considered like progressive materials 21st century, they can solve many of the current problems with light, faster and more efficient materials, components and systems. We have to take full advantage of the benefits from the application of composite of materials, not enough for us just the research and development of new products, but we also have other professionally educated successor in the younger generations. And thats why today of great importance also have activities related to education and training.

Erika Záhorcová; Martina Klierová; Martin Podařil; Roman Hrmo

Abstract This paper is focused on the importance of development students skills and teachers competencies in Slovakia. We assume that there is a close link between ICT and education process that encourages both, students and teachers, into greater cooperation and active using of skills related to this issue. The time in which we live is hectic and forces people to their own professional growth and to development of their skills. School as an essential element of education is mainly used to develop students personalities and skills. It is extremely important to provide quality education and background which is related also to the support of teacher in the area of ICT using during lessons. Transformation of education process is stimulated by the labor market demands, which are increasingly difficult to meet. If students themselves will be no table to understand the intent and objective set by teachers in the area of development of skills, it will be very difficult for them to apply on the labor market. One can obtain abilities of active searching, evaluation and mediation of information by the development of information and computer skills.
