The Development of the Nature of Science View Scale (NOSvs) at University Level.

Abstract Background: Determining individuals’ views of the nature of science is quite important for researchers since it is both a component of scientific literacy and a fundamental aim of science education. Purpose: This study aims to develop a NOSvs for assessing prospective teachers’ views of the nature of science and to analyse their psychometric properties. Sample: A total of 565 prospective teachers participated in the study. Design and methods: The Kaiser–Meyer–Olkin (KMO) Index and Bartlett’s Sphericity Test were used in this study. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed to determine the construct validity of the scale. Cronbach’s Alpha (α) coefficient was calculated for the reliability of the study. Results: It was consequently found that the KMO was larger than .50. That Bartlett’s Sphericity Test was also statistically significant. The items with item-total correlations smaller than .30 were removed from the scale. Cronbach’s α values calculated for each sub-scale were above .70. In consequence of the first CFA performed, fit indices were found to be below the expected level. For this reason, three more items with the least item-total correlations were removed from the scale. Following the CFA, the final form of the scale included 36 items and five sub-scales.

Kimya Laboratuvarında Problem Çözme Uygulamaları

Calismada kimya laboratuarinda problem cozme uygulamalarina katilan ogretmen adaylarinin problem cozme becerilerini algilama duzeylerini ve bu uygulamalarin problem cozme becerilerini algilamalarina etkisini incelemek amaclanmistir. Ayrica ogretmen adaylarinin problem cozme becerilerini algilamalari ile bilimsel islem becerileri ve mantiksal dusunme yetenekleri arasinda anlamli bir iliskinin olup olmadigi incelenmistir. Calismaya 72 ogretmen adayi katilmistir. Veri toplama araclari olarak problem cozme becerisini algilama envanteri, bilimsel islem becerisi ve mantiksal dusunme yetenegi testleri kullanilmistir. Yapilan istatistiksel analizler sonucunda, gerceklestirilen uygulamalar sonunda ogretmen adaylarinin problem cozme becerilerini iyi olarak algiladiklari ve bu uygulamalarin problem cozme becerilerini algilama duzeylerini artirmada anlamli bir etkiye sahip oldugu belirlenmistir. Ayrica problem cozme becerilerini algilamalari ile bilimsel islem becerileri ve mantiksal dusunme yetenekleri arasinda % 1 onem seviyesinde iliski oldugu tespit edilmistir.

Öğrenme Halkası Modelinin Öğretmen Adaylarının Yükseltgenme İndirgenme Konusunda Anlama Düzeylerine ve Düşünme Becerilerine Etkisi

Calismada ogretmen adaylarinin ogrenme halkasi modelinin uygulanmasindan once ve sonra yukseltgenme indirgenme konusunda anlama duzeylerini incelemek ve ogrenme halkasi modelinin onlarin yukseltgenme indirgenme konusunda anlama duzeylerine, alt ve ust duzey dusunme becerilerine etkisini belirlemek amaclanmistir. Calismaya 2010–2011 egitim ogretim yili guz doneminde Hacettepe Universitesi Egitim Fakultesi Kimya Egitimi Anabilim Dalinda okuyan 30 ogretmen adayi katilmistir. Calismada veriler, ogretmen adaylarinin alt ve ust duzey dusunme becerilerini degerlendirmeye yonelik Bloom Taksonomisine gore hazirlanmis 12 acik uclu sorudan olusan Yukseltgenme Indirgenme Basari Testi ile elde edilmistir. Calismanin sonucunda ogretmen adaylarinin ogrenme halkasi modelinin uygulanmasindan once yukseltgenme indirgenme konusunda anlama duzeylerinin genel olarak dusuk oldugu, modelin uygulanmasindan sonra ise anlama duzeylerinde anlamli bir artis oldugu belirlenmistir. Yapilan bagimli orneklem t-testleri ile ogrenme halkasi modelinin ogretmen adaylarinin alt ve ust duzey dusunme becerilerinde anlamli bir artisa neden oldugu sonucuna ulasilmistir.
