On the territory of Serbia, the Cornelian cherry (Cornus mas L.) populations grow at different locations and on a variety of geological substrates and they represent a large and important genetic potential for use in breeding programs of this fruit species. Collection and study of Cornelian cherry genotypes, introduction of best selections in commercial production, and preservation of genetic variability are activities that could improve the existing fruit gene pool. In the Vojvodina Province, over 200 Cornelian cherry genotypes have been monitored at all stages of growth and development. Large variability has been observed in all morphological and chemical characteristics under study. This paper deals with 10 Cornelian cherry genotypes, which showed best morphological characteristics in a three-year study (2007–2009), which will be used for the development of standard Cornelian cherry varieties in Serbia.

Tourism as socio-economic phenomenon reflects different influences (economic, social, political etc.), and in line with it, it has an important role in the overall economic growth. The aim of this paper is to determine the contribution of tourism in the overall economic growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) during the period of years 2006-2014. Using the methodology which used Cerovic et al. (2015) for calculating the rate of real GDP growth and the contribution of tourism towards overall economic growth in countries in the region (Serbia, Macedonia, and Montenegro), in this paper we demonstrated that tourism, in the observed period, had a modest direct contribution towards overall economic growth in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Research on the study population walnut is particularly intensified in the last four decades, primarily in the former Yugoslavia, now Serbia. As a result of this work were recognized five varieties of walnuts and few promising selections that are in the process of recognition. Due to the continuing generative reproduction, the population of walnut is very heterogeneous. Differences were observed in the beginning of the growing season and over 50 days, and the end of the growing season is about 32 days. Fruit weight was 3.3 g to 29.0 g, while the kernel percentage ranged from 26.2% to 64.3%. Number of female flowers in one inflorescence varied from 1 to 32 colors, while the number of fruits per cluster was up to 15 Analyzing the population of walnut in Serbia, it can be seen that the predominant genotypes of bad traits, but also that it is possible to extract and genotype outstanding characteristics typical, which is given as a result of the five recognized varieties and more promising selections of nuts. So far in Serbia built over 2,000 ha plantation under our varieties and selections. Largest plantation in a complex of 84 hectares and is situated in Lipar, about 70 km south of Novi Sad. This paper presents the characteristics of the population of walnut in Serbia, the properties of selected varieties and selections.
