Dance Jockey: Performing Electronic Music by Dancing

Yago de Quay; Ståle Andreas van Dorp Skogstad; Alexander Refsum Jensenius

ABSTRACT The authors present an experimental musical performance called Dance Jockey, wherein sounds are controlled by sensors on the dancers body. These sensors manipulate music in real time by acquiring data about body actions and transmitting the information to a control unit that makes decisions and gives instructions to audio software. The system triggers a broad range of music events and maps them to sound effects and musical parameters such as pitch, loudness and rhythm.

A Proposed Stability Characterization and Verification Method for High-Order Single-Bit Delta-Sigma Modulators

Ståle Andreas van Dorp Skogstad; Mats Høvin

A characterization method for verifying stability and measuring the performance quality of arbitrary noise transfer functions for the delta-sigma modulator is presented. The method consists of first obtaining the maximum stable input range sweep in the pass-band. The variance estimate can then be used to make a sharper upper limit for maximum allowed input range. This can then be used to measure the global SNR performance in the pass-band. The proposed method enables us to make a comprehensive comparison between arbitrary noise transfer function designs and it can also be used to automate the design of noise transfer functions

Using Heuristic Search To Find Stable High-Order Single-Bit Delta Sigma Modulators

Ståle Andreas van Dorp Skogstad; Mats Høvin

A heuristic search for stable high-order delta sigma modulators is presented. Searches guided by the Linear Model found stable modulators with higher SNR performance compared to classical filter design techniques. The presented design approach is both more automatic than classical design and can also be weighted such to direct the search toward designs for special purpose. A novel adaptive modulator concept is also presented.
