Abstract Social media usage among organizations is growing tremendously. Organizations are now building and maintaining social media public pages to improve their social network salience, enhance interest in their organizations, and build relationships with the online public. The majority of the studies on social media usage are based on the individual perspective while some are from the organizational perspective. However, not many studies have investigated the actual impact of social media usage on organizational performance. Therefore, using the qualitative approach, this study investigates the various purposes of social media usage and its impact on organizational performance. This study however, focuses only on the social media managers’ views. The senior managers of six organizations that are using social media are interviewed from which we find that social media is used for various purposes in organizations, such as advertising and promotion, branding, information search, building customer relations and many more. The results also show that social media has a greater impact on the performance of organizations in terms of enhancement in customer relations and customer service activities, improvement in information accessibility and cost reduction in terms of marketing and customer service.

The advent of the Internet has revolutionized the way banking is done. Realizing the importance of what is popularly known as e‐banking, in June 2000, the Central Bank of Malaysia allowed banks to conduct banking activities via the Internet. Four years later, almost all major local banks are providing e‐banking services. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of e‐banking adoption in Malaysia. It begins by analyzing the local bank websites using a model introduced by Chung and Payter (2002). The study then examines the different types of e‐banking products used by adopters before finally describing the characteristics of e‐banking adopters. Five hundred and forty two usable questionnaire responses were received to a survey, of which fifty four percent were from e‐banking adopters. Most of the adopters took advantage of the service to carry out basic activities like viewing balance inquiries, obtaining summary reports of their transactions and using savings and current account facilities. A large number of the adopters used the e‐banking services when necessary, i.e. once a month to pay utility bills and accessed the facilities either from home or the office. Many were encouraged by friends and family members to use e‐banking. The study also illustrates that there were more adopters among the younger age groups, among those with higher salaries and those holding higher positions.

This study examines the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) portal performance. Performance is viewed in terms of user satisfaction (i.e. students perspectives). It incorporates three constructs (system, information and service quality) introduced by DeLone and McLean as well as perceived usefulness first introduced in the technology acceptance model. Empirical data was collected using a survey questionnaire administered to students in two universities in Malaysia. The study illustrated that generally the students are satisfied with the portals performance. It was found that perceived usefulness is the most significant factor that influences their level of satisfaction. The study would enable PTPTN to enhance the portal performance.

Malaysia is one of the countries seeing tremendous growth in technology development. This paper analyses the factors that influence user intention to use Wireless Internet-using Mobile Devices (WIMDs) in Malaysia. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) for WIMDs is one of the most suitable models available to study WIMD adoption. The study was conducted among Malaysian mobile phone and internet users. The findings showed that facilitating conditions and wireless trust has a positive impact on the attitude to use WIMDs via perceived usefulness and ease of use.

Due to the rapid advancements in Web 2.0 and social media, a novel class of online social business called Facebook commerce (f-commerce) has emerged. Even though there are studies on the factors that influence Facebook browsing and usage intensity, however, there is dearth in research that examine the impacts of f-commerce browsing and usage intensity on consumers urge to purchase and impulse purchase. Unlike previous studies, this study examined the moderating effect of income. Since Facebook has become a phenomenon, there is a necessity to explore whether the level of f-commerce browsing and usage intensity can trigger urge to purchase and impulse purchase. Following the Stimulus-Organism-Response framework, data was collected using mall-intercept technique and analyzed with SmartPLS 3. Majority of the suggested hypotheses have been empirically validated and the research framework can explain 33.0% of variance in urge to purchase and 61.7% variance in impulse purchase. Interestingly, the finding showed no moderating effect of income. However, marital status and Internet hours were found to have moderating effects. The research findings can contribute to the online retailers, marketers and other f-commerce stakeholders in formulating their marketing strategies and policies while providing novel insight in understanding the impulse purchase behavior. The effects of Facebook browsing & usage intensity on impulse purchase were studied.Stimulus-Organism-Response framework was used with income as the moderator variable.A total of 808 f-commerce shoppers were gathered using mall-intercept technique. The model explained 33% variance in urge to purchase and 61.7% in impulse purchase.Interestingly, no moderating effects of income on all the relationships were found.
