The effect of nuclear binding energy on pion yields in relativistic nuclear collisions

Emil de Lima Medeiros; S. B. Duarte; T. Kodama

Abstract An alternative way for including the nuclear binding energy in intranuclear cascade calculations of relativistic heavy-ion collisions is presented. The present model strictly conserves the total energy and momentum of the system. Pions are produced only via the formation of Δ resonances and the pion absorption is taken into account through the delta recombination reaction. This simple treatment leads to a correct description of the pion multiplicity in the Arue5f8KCl reaction case. The proton and pion energy spectra calculated within this model agree with the data.

p(T) distribution of hyperons in 200-A-GeV Au-Au in smoothed particle hydrodynamics

Wei-Liang Qian; Yogiro Hama; R. Andrade; Frederique Grassi; Otavio Socolowski; T. Kodama

The transverse momentum distributions of hadrons in 200GeV Au-Au collisions at RHIC are calculated using the smoothed particle hydrodynamics code SPheRIO. They are compared with data from STAR and PHOBOS Collaborations. By employing an equation of state which explicitly incorporates the strangeness conservation and introducing strangeness chemical potential into the code, the transverse spectra give a reasonable description of experimental data, except the multiplicities of hyperons.

Nexspherio results on elliptic flow at RHIC and connection with thermalization

R. Andrade; T. Kodama; Yogiro Hama; Otavio Socolowski; F. Grassi; B. Tavares

Abstract.Elliptic flow at RHIC is computed event by event with NeXSPheRIO. Reasonable agreement with experimental results on v2(η) is obtained. Various effects are studied as well: reconstruction of impact parameter direction, freeze-out temperature, equation of state (with or without crossover), emission mechanism.
