Cadeia reversa do óleo de cozinha: coordenação, estrutura e aspectos relacionais

Luis Carlos Zucatto; Iara Welle; Tania Nunes da Silva

Production and consumption activities generate residues that, according to their disposal, produce negative impacts on the environment. This situation worsened critically after the Industrial Revolution. In order to reuse these residues, new forms of producing, consuming and proper disposal for these products are needed after the end of their life cycle. Based on this context, the objective of this study is to analyze how a reverse supply chain of the collection of used cooking oil is structured and coordinated. The methodological path observes the qualitative approach and characterizes itself as exploratory. In theoretical terms, the study is guided by the reverse supply chain and the supply chain coordination approaches. Results show the initiative of a company that does not work with used cooking oil, but employs a strategy based on this residue for triggering the structuration process of the chain under analysis. As its main contribution, the study suggests the consolidation of the fifth stage of logistics: Reverse Supply Chain (RSC).

Natalia Aguilar Delgado; Luciano Barin Cruz; Eugenio Avila Pedrozo; Tania Nunes da Silva

Some authors point the entrepreneurship as an important vector of social and economical sustainability in the countries all around the world. However, we believe that the role of the entrepreneur can go beyond these factors observed by these authors. Starting from a change of values, they could constitute a new notion of entrepreneurship oriented, also, towards environmental sustainability, being this the main discussion of this article. Taking into account that the biodynamic products can be considered socially and environmentally correct, we intend to analyze, in this article, the innovations developed by an entrepreneur who is one of the main producers of biodynamic rice in Brazil. This article assumes a qualitative boarding aiming to catch, in a deeper way, details related to the case of this entrepreneur. We understand that, beyond creativity and leadership, the entrepreneur oriented towards sustainability must possess values that are in accordance with this perspective when leading the activities of the organization.

Caroline Chagas Prates; Eugenio Avila Pedrozo; Tania Nunes da Silva

Corporate Social Responsibility refers to the business’ role in providing Sustainable Development through fair and appropriate relationships with its stakeholders. This study aimed to describe and analyze the CSR evolution in two subsidiaries within the same group, one located in Brazil and other in China. In general, observed similarities in CSR evolution. In both companies, the order in which the dimensions received incentives was the same, first the economic, then the environmental and lastly the social dimension. However, some differences were noted, such as the initial situation of dimensions and the time to consolidate the pillars. In Chinese company, the initial situation about environmental and social dimension was worst. Other point refers to time toward CSR. In Brazilian’ subsidiary, the CSR evolution occurred slower. The last point refers to requirements of second order, given the non-observance of these in both subsidiaries.

A Brazilian University Facing Challenge of Education for Sustainable Development

Deisi Viviani Becker; Simone Alves Pacheco de Campos; Tania Nunes da Silva

Universities are working more and more every day to be the locus for efforts to enable them to enact management alternatives towards sustainable development and at the same time, to make their students be in touch with the most developed management tools, taking into account the intertwined “environmental, social, and economic” spheres. The following research shows the different phases that the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul experienced regarding their relationship with sustainable development. It was necessary to: (a) check what the institutional plans regarding the issue are; (b) understand the way managers of the Environmental Management System (EMS) work and carry out their plans and (c) realize way of integrating sustainability into the curriculum of higher education. In the last decade, the difficulties and obstacles have shown that the process is delicate and slow. Even without an official document that provides clear directions to all institutional levels, there are initiatives that impact on best practices within the University and end up reflecting positively in society. From this work, other institutions can benefit from the initiatives and have the awareness that the process of change, although difficult, can happen gradually and gain legitimacy.
