In this paper, an overall comparison between the Quadratic Boost Converter (QBC) & Cascaded Converter or Cascaded Boost Converter (CBC) is given in terms of ideal condition, as well as with the consideration of Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) of inductor-capacitor. The differences in the voltage gain due to the individual effect of inductive and capacitive ESR is shown in this paper. The parameters of the converters are found out with a consideration of per unit ripple quantity of inductor current and capacitor voltage. It is seen that in QBC & CBC voltage gain is same but the power stress rating of the switch in prior one is more compared to the later. At the end, the simulation results of both the converters are given for a 20V/98V, 100 W output. The analysis and simulation results are presented in this paper for the verification of the feasibility.

A comparative analysis of Boost and Buck-Boost Converter for power factor correction (PFC) with diode bridge rectifier is discussed in this paper. Boost and Buck-Boost PFC converter faces very high THD and poor PF in open loop control. Thus Hysteresis Band Current controller is used to reduce the Total harmonic distortion (THD) of input current waveform and improve power factor. PFC is attained here by making the input voltage and current in phase and almost same shaped. A 150-V output prototype is designed to verify the effectiveness of open loop and closed loop Boost and Buck-Boost converter. The analysis and simulation results are presented in this paper for the verification of the feasibility.

A multilevel Power converter structure is based on the concept of high power and medium voltage situations. Its concept is to use a series of power semiconductor switches with several lower voltage dc sources to perform the power conversion by synthesizing a staircase voltage waveform. Multilevel converter operates both in inverter and rectifier mode in a power electronic circuit. So, we are focusing on the multilevel Inverter. In this paper we are going to discuss about the motivation of multilevel inverters, its operating principle and modulation techniques. In this paper we will also discuss about the Total Harmonic Distortion of multilevel inverters which is less compared to two level inverters.
