In this paper, we describe the opportunistic localization, which enables localization services that works seamlessly in heterogeneous environments including indoors as oppose to GPS based outdoor-only systems.

MapUme: Scalable middleware for location aware computing applications

In this paper, a scalable middleware for supporting location aware applications, MapUme is presented. Scalability feature will enable development of a broad range localisation systems from small size to a large number of localised objects. Distributed data processing supports the scalability requirement by distributing data processing load into several computing machines. The distributed data processing is implemented using service oriented architecture which fits well with the scalability requirement. This feature promotes scalability since a main server may forward requests to multiple service instances without the knowledge of the service client. The middleware offers also extensibility of its components taking advantage of component based software development approach used.

Evaluasi Kesiapan Pengguna Dalam Adopsi Sistem Informasi Manajemen SEIP Menggunakan Metode Technology Readiness Index

Abstract. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and education are inseparable in this digital era. The basic principle use of ICT is to simplify h uman l ife . However, in some places there are still several problems in adopting the ICT. The problem s in adopting ICT are h uman r esources, Technical and Finance. Unprepared users will reduce system efficiency that ICT can not be implemented and utilized optimally in the operation . The purposes o f this r esearch are to measur e the level of readiness of prospective t echnology users in adopting the Management Information Systems (MIS) of Student Entrepreneurial Program and Intership (SEIP) using Technology Readiness Index (TRI) methods and to find a solution so that the adoption of SIM SEIP can be successfully implemented as g ood result . The results show t hat two dimensions of optimism and innovation can significantly affect a gainst TR variables. While the other dimensions such as inconvenience and insecurity do not affect significantly a gainst TR variables. Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (TIK) dan dunia pendidikan tidak dapat dipisahkan pada era digital seperti saat ini. Prinsip dasar dari penggunaan TIK adalah mempermudah kehidupan manusia. Namun dibeberapa tempat masih sering ditemui beberapa kendala dalam pengadopsian TIK. Kendala yang dihadapi dalam adopsi TIK antara lain adalah sumber daya manusia, teknis dan keuangan. Ketidaksiapan pengguna sedikit banyak akan mengurangi efisiensi sistem sehingga belum bisa diimplementasikan dan dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengukur tingkat kesiapan calon pengguna teknologi dalam adopsi Sistem Informasi Manajemen (SIM) Student Enterpreneur and Intership Program (SEIP) menggunakan metode Technology Readiness Index (TRI) dan menemukan solusi agar adopsi SIM SEIP dapat berhasil dan bisa diimplementasikan dengan baik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dua dimensi yaitu optimism dan innovativeness berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap variabel TR. Sedangkan dua dimensi lain yaitu discomfort dan insecurity tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap variabel TR.
