Campaign 2.0: An analyze of the utilization social network sites of political parties in Indonesia

Information technology especially social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Flickr have significantly transformed by changing communication and political views in many country. Campaign become more interactive because of the dissemination of information and two-way communication between parties and voters. Social media have some characteristics in online campaign like trust, relationship, value, loyalty, and world of mouth. Because of that parties are forced to make a new strategy in online campaign. This paper explain the use of social media by parties in processes of 2014 Indonesian general election. The research conducted from October 2012 until Januari 2013 to see the utilization of social media and its relationship with the final result of verification 2014 general election. This research also analyze the differences of utilization of social media between big parties (parliamentary treshold) and small parties. The analyze of social media is also examine the relationship between each variable like trust, relationship, value, loyalty and word of mouth. This research found that Gerindra have domination on Facebook account and Youtube channel. In addition Twitter activities of the party of PKS and Flickr account of the party of Golkar have domination compared to other parties. Research also confirmed that big parties and parties that passed the verification are more active on social media than other parties.

Tourism recommendation based on vector space model using composite social media extraction

Intentionally or not, social media users likely to share others recommendation about things, included tourism activities. In this paper we proposed a technique which was able to structure the joint recommendation of composite social media and extract them into knowledge about the tourist sites by deploying the vector space model. We included advice seeking technique to not only calculate recommendations obtained from the profile itself but also recommendations by social network users. This is a potential solution to handle sparsity problem that usually appears in conventional recommender systems. We further formulated an approach to normalize the unstructured text data of social media to obtain appropriate recommendation. We experimented the real world data from various source of social media in R language. We evaluated our result with Spearmans rank correlation and showed that our formulation has diversity recommendation with positive correlation to users profile.

Visual usability design for mobile application based on user personality

Currently visual usability for mobile applications is a must, whilst more demand for personalized the design both aesthetic and personal preference dynamically. It was designed to ease people with high mobility. When designing user interface, designers focus on visual usability, user needs, and user preferences. Each user has different preferences about interface designs because of their personality. In this paper, we proposed a visual usability design for mobile application based on user personality. Our approach was based on psychological aspects that enabled to perform personal preference appointing to specific visual usability of preferred experiences. The objectives of this paper are to identify and formulate rules for interface design in mobile application based on user personality. Kansei engineering is a method to get user needs and user preferences based on his or her senses and cognition. Association rule mining and bond measure is a method for finding a relationship between user preferences and user personality.

Influence of presidential candidates e-campaign towards voters in 2014 presidential election in Bogor City

The use of social media (facebook, Twitter and youtube) is an activity that is most in demand by Internet users in Indonesia. The media can be used in the election campaign to shape public opinion in order to influence voters and increase participation of voters. This paper analyzes the effect of e-campaign on Indonesian Presidential election 2014 study conducted in West Java (Bogor City). Respondents were asked to complete a questionnaire containing the activities undertaken in the use of the website, facebook, Twitter and youtube about the presidential candidates and campaign statements to the effect of e-voting decision. The relationship between the use of websites and social media by voters with the voting decision are examined using Spearman correlation. Based on the analysis found score relative overall respondents agreed argue that campaign through the website, Twitter, facebook page, and youtube channel is able to influence their voting decision to choose one of the Candidates. Correlation test shows there are significant relationship between website utilization, social media towards voting decision.

E-government development: Online industrial business license services system in Indonesia

The use of ICT in Indonesias public services is still limited. For example, in Bogor District, the use of ICT in the licensing service especially industrial business license is still at the preparation stage, website is only used for delivering information. The on going license service is still conventional, applicants must register and apply for a industrial business license by visiting licensing agency office and it takes more than 10 working days to process the application. ICT is expected to improve efficiency, economy and transparency. This paper aims to develop a prototype system of online licensing services. Analysis conducted by using the Work Center Analysis (WCA) method, which includes 6 elements such as user, product, business process, participants, information and technology. And consider four aspects: simplification process, elimination of unnecessary processes, reengineering; or automation. Applicant can apply an application anytime and anywhere, just sit with a computer connected to the internet to register, submit the document and get a response. Response is obtained as an information in each phase such as information validation, verification, and also certificate can be obtained through e-mail if the application is approved. This system will shows the value of transparency in public services that can enhance public trust to the government.

Campaign 2.0: Analysis of social media utilization in 2014 Jakarta legislative election

The advances in information and communication technologies are not only have revolutionized the society daily routine, but also offer a new way of interaction between community elements. In politics, the Internet has been used by political figures as a medium to interact with their constituents. Specifically, the social media have been enabling more interactive activities in political campaign. This research presents an analysis of social media usage in political campaign in DKI Jakarta legislative election in 2014. In detail, it explores the correlation between the votes gained by the legislative candidates and the social media that they used. Further, this research also recommend an application to support legislative candidate campaign in social media. The period when the survey was taken is 5-9 April 2014. In this period, the social media activities are observed in each legislative candidate pages or sites. This research shows that the usage of social media, especially Facebook and Twitter, is strongly correlated with the number of votes gained by the candidate. Therefore, we recommend the candidates to utilize the social media as one of their campaign strategies.
