— Various kinds of errors in pixel voltage are considered, using computer simulation for the design of 15-in.-diagonal full-color TFT-LCDs. Adopting the advanced capacitively coupled driving method with a double-scanning gate pulse for TFT-LCD driving, satisfactory display characteristics are confirmed by experiments on fabricated models.

Development of a new design simulator for poly-Si TFTs to optimize the lightly doped drain structure

A new design simulator to simulate the characteristics of poly-Si TFTs taking into account its physical structure was developed. By using the simulator, we can optimize the length and the sheet resistance of the LDD region in order to obtain sufficient ON currents and to suppress OFF currents under both dark and illuminated conditions.

High-resolution 6-inch LCD using a-Si TFT with TaOx/SiNx double insulating layer

Abstract A TFT array having 476 × 630 (299 880) pixels employing a-Si TFT with TaOx/SiNx double insulating layers is developed for a 6-inch diagonal LCD display panel. The panel is driven by a progressive scanning method for which the address time is 30 μs. The parameters of this TFT array were determined by computer simulation, and as a result of this, highly improved driving and viewing characteristics were obtained.
