This study aims to learn the characteristics of Family Health Strategy (FHS) teams from a Regional Health Coordination of RS, identifying its difficulties in the work process. It is a qualitative exploratory-descriptive study, with a questionnaire application. Results revealed a group of young females with recent professional education. Regarding the work process, some difficulties observed were: the hiring model, the lack of infrastructure of the health units, the difficulty to work in teams, the lack of specialization of the employees, the non-comprehension of the population about the FHS proposal and even the reporting of the lack of difficulties. Some of the results corroborate the data reported by the literature, but the last two items were poorly explored in other studies, constituting relevant aspects to be considered in the work process and in the implementation of the FHS.Este estudio tuvo como objetivo conocer las caracteristicas de los equipos de la Estrategia de Salud de la Familia (ESF) de una Coordinadora Regional de Salud del RS, identificando las dificultades en el proceso de trabajo.

The article aims at making a reflection about utilizing the health popular education as a potentializing methodology of the health actions performed by nurses. Since the 1970s, popular education became outstanding in the realm of health because it utilizes dialogue and listening as care tools and allows the expression of the critical thought and world views by appraising interpersonal exchanges between the scientific and the popular knowledge and learning about the health-sickness process and self-care. In view of the evolution of the public policies, health actions have required new methodologies in order to work with health promotion and prevention of diseases. Thus, Popular Education is capable of rescuing the nurse´s role as an educator under the care perspective, reflecting about the methodology and the utilized working tools and the impacts and results obtained through dialogue, respect and appraisal of the subjects within their collective environment.

The current study is aimed at getting to know and analyzing the work process of community health agents (CHA) from a municipality of the Northeastern region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul through a qualitative approach. The collection of data was carried out by means of a semi-structured interview applied to 23 CHAs. The Thematic Content Analysis was utilized for the data analysis. The results evidenced some possibilities, such as: communication with the participating families, establishing bonds, and recognition of/satisfaction towards the professional agent by the community; and among some of the limits were: difficulty to perform team work; difficulty to perform collective tasks in the community; low salary/work overload and lack of qualification. Evidence shows the need of reorganizing the work process of these professionals with higher investment in education and instrumentation by adopting a permanent educational policy.

Patrícia Caprini Guzzo; Marta Cocco da Costa; Ethel Bastos da Silva; Alice do Carmo Jahn

The aim of this study was to investigate practices of health professionals for users undergoing violence from perspective of comprehensive care. This study was based on a qualitative and descriptive research on graduate-level and technical health professionals who work in the Family Health Strategy programme in a northeastern municipality of Rio Grande do Sul. Data were collected by means of semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic mode. Results showed that these professionals do not utilize comprehensiveness to guide their care practices with users undergoing violence. Instead, they still work according to the biomedical model in which intervention is based on referring care to other sectors and the treatment plan. The study highlights the need for more appropriation and further discussion on practices regarding violence guided by the principle of comprehensiveness within the Family Healthcare team.

Resumen We sought to examine the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in children and compare the data obtained by the clinical method known as “palmar pallor” and the laboratory exam on the Family Health Strategy services in the municipality of Panambi-RS. The exploratory, descriptive and quantitative research was carried out from March to June 2009. The subjects were 41 children from the age of 2 months up to 5 years old. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Out of the total number of children, 51,2% of them were male; 41,46% of them fit in the age frame from 0 to 12 months old; 53,6% belonged to families of D social level while 43,9% of the family chiefs have complete Elementary Education or incomplete Junior High School. Considering the palmar pallor, the prevalence of anemia was 51,2% and as per the lab exam, by 58,53%. The study shows that the palmar pallor and the laboratory exam when used together provide a more accurate diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia, can be inserted in the professional nursing practice in the ESF.
