The article aims at making a reflection about utilizing the health popular education as a potentializing methodology of the health actions performed by nurses. Since the 1970s, popular education became outstanding in the realm of health because it utilizes dialogue and listening as care tools and allows the expression of the critical thought and world views by appraising interpersonal exchanges between the scientific and the popular knowledge and learning about the health-sickness process and self-care. In view of the evolution of the public policies, health actions have required new methodologies in order to work with health promotion and prevention of diseases. Thus, Popular Education is capable of rescuing the nurse´s role as an educator under the care perspective, reflecting about the methodology and the utilized working tools and the impacts and results obtained through dialogue, respect and appraisal of the subjects within their collective environment.

Lilian Zielke Hesler; Marta Cocco da Costa; Darielli Gindri Resta; Isabel Cristina dos Santos Colomé

The current study has the objective of learning and understanding how Community Health Agents conceptualize, develop and perform strategies to counter violence against women attending the Family Health Strategies in a northeastern municipality of Rio Grande do Sul. It is an exploratory research, utilizing a descriptive and qualitative approach, carried out with 35 Community Health Agents. Semi-structured interviews were performed to collect the data, which were analyzed using the thematic model. Conceptions of violence against women are centered around violence as a social construction based on gender inequalities and on violence as having a multifactorial construction. Regarding care practices and interventions to counter violence, the following tools are highlighted construction of intervention strategies within the staff forming bonds, listening and dialogue with the women victims of violence; and directing victims to support services. We believe that this study contributes to the visibility of this theme as a need in health care, as well as for the construction of strategies to counter it.O presente estudo visou conhecer e compreender a violencia contra as mulheres na perspectiva dos Agentes Comunitarios de Saude inseridos nas Estrategias de Saude da Familia de um municipio da regiao noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul.

Social representations of violence against rural women: unveiling senses in multiple views

Patrícia Caprini Guzzo; Marta Cocco da Costa; Ethel Bastos da Silva; Alice do Carmo Jahn

The aim of this study was to investigate practices of health professionals for users undergoing violence from perspective of comprehensive care. This study was based on a qualitative and descriptive research on graduate-level and technical health professionals who work in the Family Health Strategy programme in a northeastern municipality of Rio Grande do Sul. Data were collected by means of semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic mode. Results showed that these professionals do not utilize comprehensiveness to guide their care practices with users undergoing violence. Instead, they still work according to the biomedical model in which intervention is based on referring care to other sectors and the treatment plan. The study highlights the need for more appropriation and further discussion on practices regarding violence guided by the principle of comprehensiveness within the Family Healthcare team.
