Evaluating a User-Model Based Personalisation Architecture for Digital News Services

An architecture that provides personalised filtering and dissemination of news items is presented. It is based on user profiles and it provides mechanisms that allow the user to control and tailor to his own needs the interaction between three different sources of relevance judgements: the existing newspaper categorisation by sections, basic information retrieval on user selected keywords, and an additional operation of automatic categorisation against an alternative hierarchy of categories. These three tiers cover some of the most promising access methods for digital libraries. The proposed architecture has been implemented and evaluation results are presented, covering user response, system efficiency, and user preferences regarding the set of methods made available to them.

Se analizan las necesidades documentales del Periodismo Especializado, se proponen algunas de las fuentes que pueden utilizar los periodistas en distin tas areas informativas, ofreciendo un repaso general de los valores documenta les en este contexto. El objetivo es presentar al lector donde aparece la Docu mentacion en la informacion especializada, y donde deberia aparecer, asi como las fuentes de informacion que se han de emplear, sin dejar de lado los nuevos productos y servicios informativos en Internet. Se presenta, ademas., una serie de paginas web utiles para cada una de las modalidades de periodismo descritas.

Una aproximación a la educación mediática para el contacto con desconocidos en Internet

Teens are attracted to establish social relationships through Internet. Given this reality the need to know risks involved in the contact with unknown or strangers is arisen, in order to prevent them. This theoretical study proposed criteria and competencies to understand these phenomena. Similarly, is presented as a basis for a functional guide on the communicative level, for parents, counselors and agents linked to the digital lives of adolescents. Thus, it is intended to avoid the risks involved and to collaborate on that established relationships are creative and critical, both personally and collectively.
