The article proposes to approach the application of the nursing process to patient care in the operating room, it gives a theorical basis and examples from the clinical pratices.

Estudo sobre as regiöes para aplicaçäo de injeçäo por via intramuscular

Administration of drugs by intramuscular injections is a nursing procedure. The choice of the sites to be utilized need to be considered regarding advantages and disadvantages of each local. A data colection was started to know about the most utilized sites by nursing teachers and the hospital nurses, and the local pointed out by them for needle punction. It was verified that there is any differentiation in the choice of sites according the patients age and sex and the knowledge of contraindications and complications of each sites for intramuscular injections. The data concluded that deltoidea, dorsogluteal and lateral thigh regions were the preferable one for both groups of nurses and the locations were not always anatomically right; for the choice of the site was considered the patients age by 80% of the population. Only some mentioned contraindications and complications were according to consulted authors. The ventrogluteal region, supposed as the most save and suitable one by the authors, was the less mentioned by both groups of nurses.

A survey was performed of the literature published until 1975 about intramuscular injections and the utilization of deltoid, dorsogluteal, ventrogluteal and lateral thigh regions for their administration; the different studies has been grouped by regions, and supported by these bibliographycal review, a chart was made with the most importants indications referring to each on of the regions for intramuscular injections.

O TRABALHO DO ENFERMEIRO DE CENTRO CIRÚRGICO NO BRASIL (DÉCADA DE 80)

A partir da visao materialista-historico e dialetica do trabalho da Enfermagem como uma pratica social inserida no modo de producao y capitalista brasileiro desta decada de 80, este estudo, pela decomposicao do trabalho do enfermeiro de centro cirurgico em seus tres elementos essenciais procurou apontar para a necessidade da compreensao nao somente destes tres elementos mas, principalmente, para o entendimento de suas relacoes super-estruturais mediadas pelo modo de producao brasileiro no sentido de, por meio desta praxis reflexiva, buscar uma sintese, entre o que tenho (o que e o trabalho do enfermeiro de centro cirurgico) e o que quero, sintese esta que possibilite uma nova pratica.

As autoras realizaram um levantamento bibliografico coletando dados atualizados sobre a utilizacao dos agentes quimicos desinfetantes hospitalares, levando-se em consideracao suas possibilidades e suas limitacoes. Sao abordados na fundamentacao cientifica o conceito de desinfeccao e esterilizacao, as condicoes necessarias para a acao efetiva de um agente quimico, os criterios de escolha do agente quimico, e a classificacao dos agentes quimicos utilizados em equipamentos e materiais medico-cirurgicos.

SEGURANÇA DO PACIENTE EM SALA DE OPERAÇÕES: O ENFERMEIRO E A UNIDADE DE ELETROCIRURGIA

A unidade de eletrocirurgia é um aparelho eletrônico que tem como objetivo promover a eletrocoagulação e a eletrodissecção. Como qualquer outro equipamento eletrônico, seus benefícios potenciais podem ser anulados, ou seu uso pode levar a desastrosas conseqüências, caso haja omissão ou desconhecimento com relação ao seu funcionamento, manejo e conservação. A avaliação das circunstâncias que envolvem queimaduras e problemas de interferência no paciente e em outros equipamentos eletrônicos contribui para maior segurança do paciente na sala de operações (S.O.). São analisadas as possíveis causas de queimaduras e é focalizado o papel do enfermeiro.
