Pablo del Villar-Guerra; Corsino Rey Galán; Ana Vivanco Allende; Alberto Medina Villanueva

The injury pattern in child abuse is block abuse head trauma which in the most severe cases produces brain death. Organ donation is uncommon in children younger than five years. We describe two cases of child abuse that caused brain death; subsequently they were subsidiary for organ donation. It is very important to establish a good coordination between health, social care and legal assistance teams to obtain organ donation. Celebrando los 50 años de Anales de Pediatría: manteniendo la tradición mientras fomentamos el cambio

Empar Lurbe i Ferrer; Eduardo G. Pérez-Yarza; Corsino Rey Galán

In 2018 we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first issue of Anales de Pediatría, the official journal of the Asociación Española de Pediatría (AEP) and its Scientific Associations, recognised as the journal with the highest output and quality in Spanish paediatrics. It seems fitting that as the editorsin-chief of the past three editorial teams, we contribute to emphasise the importance of this anniversary in the lines that follow. The Committee on the History of Paediatrics of the AEP offered to produce a special article, published in this same issue, highlighting the most relevant milestones in this half century of Anales. Although writing a historical article of brief length always carries the risk of leaving out some relevant events or figures, as we express in the title of this editorial, this is an occasion for celebration with an intentional balance of tradition and change. In the last few years Anales de Pediatría has consolidated its status as the most influential paediatric scientific journal published in Spanish. A particularly important point is the increase in its impact factor (IF) in 2016 to 1.140, the highest value it has ever achieved; this, together with other bibliometric data indicated in the previous editorial, places Anales in a position of which we, as members of the Spanish Association of Paediatrics (AEP), can feel proud of. These successes are the result of the intelligent strategies and constant efforts of previous editorial committees. Among the most significant highlights are the inclusion of the journal in the Science Citation Index-Journal Citation Reports (SCI-JCR) list and the sustained growth in its IF, culminating in the figure mentioned above. This new editorial committee would like to begin its tenure by expressing its appreciation and gratitude for the work of its predecessors, particularly the outgoing committee led by Empar Lurbe, which have brought Anales de Pediatría to the most successful point in its history. Four years ago, Empar and her team analysed the journal’s situation, setting out the threats and opportunities facing it at that time. Now, as a result of their work, the threats have diminished, the journal’s international presence has clearly increased and it has moved up to the
