Fermino Fernandes Sisto; José Maurício Haas Bueno; Fabián Javier Marín Rueda

The relationships among personality traits and visomotor perception were studied in 384 male and female students, from 6 to 12 years of age. With Bender Test it was possible to obtain the scores sum of the figures, scores of distortion and integration of forms, and other measures. The Personality Scale for Children informed about neuroticism, psychoticism, extroversion and adequacy. Positive and significant correlations were found for neuroticism with integration measures and psychoticism with distortion measures and one integration measure. Some measures categorized extreme groups of neuroticism and psychoticism. It was observed that as diminishing the scores of visomotor integration, the scores of neuroticism increased, and as the psychoticism scores increased, the scores of the distortion of forms also increased.

The negative correlations found were between extraversion and social self concept, psychoticism and familiar self concept, and sociability with personal self concept. For the girls, positively correlations between the social self concept and psychoticism and sociability with familiar self concept were emerged. Negative correlations were revealed between extraversion trait and social self concept, psychoticism and neuroticism traits correlated with familiar. The contrasting group’s analyses confirmed the found data.

Ana Paula Porto Noronha; Fabián Javier Marín Rueda; Acácia Aparecida Angeli dos Santos

The aim in this study was to analyze differences between children’s performances on the Bender – Sistema de Pontuacao Gradual (B-SPG) [Gradual Scoring System] in the states of Minas Gerais and Paraiba, and to compare them with the results presented in the test manual. The participants were 511 children, both sexes, aged 6-10 years ( M = 8.21, SD = 1.33), and 50.7% male. The children were from two states, Minas Gerais ( n = 298, 58.3%) and Paraiba ( n = 213, 41.7%). The SPG was administered collectively in classrooms. The mean B-SPG scores between the children from Minas Gerais and Paraiba were very similar and not statistically significant. Regarding the comparison between the two states and the normative sample, three results were significant, two of which favored the children from Sao Paulo and the other the children from Minas Gerais and Paraiba, showing little variation in the results of the B-SPG.

Compreensão da leitura: análise do funcionamento diferencial dos itens de um Teste de Cloze

Katya Luciane de Oliveira; Acácia Aparecida Angeli dos Santos; Evely Boruchovitch; Fabián Javier Marín Rueda

The objectives of the present study were to investigate the adaptation of a Cloze test to the Rasch Model as well as to evaluate the Differential Item Functioning (DIF) in relation to gender. The sample was composed by 573 students from 5th to 8th grades of public schools in the state of Sao Paulo. The cloze test was applied collectively. The analysis of the instrument revealed its adaptation to Rash Model and that the items were responded according to the expected pattern, showing good adjustment, as well. Regarding DIF, only three items were differentiated by gender. Based on the data, results indicated a balance in the answers given by boys and girls. The objectives of the present study were to investigate the adaptation of a Cloze test to the Rasch Model as well as to evaluate the Differential Item Functioning (DIF) in relation to gender.
