University students’ attitudes towards pornographic material consumption. The expansion of the pornographic material market raises the question of the influence of the values transmitted by the media in people’s behavior. Despite the apparent interest in sexuality by the society in general, Brazil lacks studies on this topic, which has not yet been deeply discussed. This study describes the elaboration and validation of a psychometric instrument for the measuring of attitudes towards the consumption of pornographic material, answered by 336 university students and submitted to a factor analysis. 33 items were built in order to cover two dimensions, presenting adequate reliability scores: (1) “Positive effects of pornography”, expressing the idea that pornographic material is favorable to sexual life ( = 0.94) and (2) “Harmful effects of pornography”, which expresses the idea that this same material is noxious to intimate relationships and it is associated to vice and isolation ( = 0.85).

SUPERANDO O FALICISMO: SOFRIMENTO MATERNO NA PSICANÁLISE DE CRIANÇAS

Henriqueta Lúcia Arcoverde de Melo; Fernando Cézar Bezerra de Andrade; Hélida Magalhães da Costa Lima

The article interprets maternal suffering and its implications on a psychotic childs psychoanalysis. Parental suffering interferes with a childs treatment when it induces the repetition of fantasies generated in traumas whose messages, once intruded, were not worked through by the parents. As the clinical case demonstrates, the mothers phallicism and the foreclosure of the paternal function are not necessarily present in the origins of the psychosis. Far from being his mothers phallus, the boy received a role to replace a hated object in a traumatic scene lived precociously by his mother, during her childhood, when she received intrusive sexual messages related to birth and death, relived imaginarily by her during the boys psychoanalysis. The article interprets maternal suffering and its implications on a psychotic child’s psychoanalysis. NO PRINCÍPIO É O LUDENS: INTEGRAÇÃO DO SELF DO BEBÊ ATRAVÉS DO BRINCAR EM CRECHE

Danielle Menezes de Oliveira Gonçalves; Pierre Normando Gomes-da-Silva; Fernando Cézar Bezerra de Andrade

This article analyzes the process of integration of the infant’s self when playing. It is a descriptive, qualitative, ethnographic research. Data were collected with 12 nurslings from a Public Nursery School for 72 hours during recreation time. Considering their movements, communication, and expressed intentionality, infants’ play was examined in order to identify creativeness in frequent, fluent and focused actions. Those subjects choose inanimate objects to play with, which allows inferring their need for possessing and manipulating objects. According to Winnicott’s theory, their actions were interpreted as evidence of as a state of almost complete absent-mindedness, which suggests that they experienced playing as an activity integrating their selves as oneness, also integrating with their environments. Therefore, playing deserves understanding and appreciation by professionals at Nursery Schools.

This article discusses a clinical case in which main symptom was the accomplishment of masochistic desires, expressed both in a specific erotic scene involving risks, pain and humiliation, and in the patients psychodynamics, grounded on a cult of suffering and guided to self-destruction, which interfered in other dimensions of patients life: work, intellectual and loving bonds. Initially, the metapsychology of masochism in Freuds work is summarized, as well as a reassessment promoted by the Theory of Generalized Seduction, formulated by Jean Laplanche. Next, the patients etiology and his mental arrangement are discussed, as well as his psychoanalytic process, with the main moments of acting out and repeating the seduction fantasies in the context of transference. The formulation of symptoms during his psychoanalysis is understood as an effect of a new translation to his sexual enigmas, which were formulated especially from maternal and paternal messages, characterized by sadism and perversion.
