Its a bibliographic study, in which it was made a scientific production survey on nursing referring to clinical teaching in the Catálogo de Dissertações e Teses do Centro de Estudos e Pesquisas em Enfermagem (CEPEn) (Nursing Study and Research Centers Dissertation and Thesis Catalog) from Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem - ABEn (Brazilian Nursing Association) between 1979 and 2004. It was aimed to describe the study distribution regarding to the number of publishing, applied title, publishing origin, year of application, methodology used and the theme approached. It was concluded that scientific production in this area is still incipient. Thus, we can improve our duties as an educator and occupy our space in the education and health in a competent and qualified way.

It was conduct a review of the literature regarding the clinical experience in nursing education. We sought to identify the scientific production of dissertations and theses that address this experience, basing the data collection on the dissertations and theses catalog produced by CEPEn, Brazilian Nursing Association, in the period of 2001 to 2006. Of a total of 132 abstracts related to this issue, 124 (94%) used nursing education as key word; 05 (4%), the key word clinical competence and 03 (2%), internship and residency. The results show that the scientific production in clinical experience, which is essential to clinical competence, is incipient, with a slight predominance of masters thesis which, in most cases, use qualitative methods, and have distinct distribution in the country.

En el quinto semestre del curso de graduacion en enfermeria es desarrollada la disciplina de Didactica Aplicada al Cuidado. Esta desarrolla varios contenidos teorico-practicos entre ellos el de estrategia de ensenanza. El objetivo es relatar la vivencia de la utilizacion del teatro de titeres en la promocion de la salud bucal de ninos de una guarderia en la Zona Este de San Pablo. Con este relato evidenciamos que los contenidos teoricos desarrollados en la Disciplina de Didactica Aplicada al Cuidado son fundamentales para la practica de la Educacion en Salud. La disciplina nos permite desarrollar multiples actividades en el papel de educador y en la promocion de la salud.The Didactics Applied to Care discipline is developed in the fifth semester of the nursing graduation course. It develops several theoretical-practical contents, among them, the teaching strategy. Our objective is to report the experience with the use of puppet theater to promote the oral health of children in a day nursery in the São Paulo East Zone. With this report we make it clear that the theoretical contents developed by the Didactics Applied to Care Discipline are essential to the practice of Health Education. The discipline allows us to develop multiple activities in the role of educator and in health promotion.
