The objective of this study was to identify the relationships possible eating disorders and distortion of body image in physical education students. The sample was composed by 229 students (45.6% males). The body image was analyzed by mean Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) and the eating disorders through Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26). The presence of possible eating disorders was associated with distortion of body image (p<0.001) and not with nutritional status (p=0.448). Already the distortion in body image was associated both with possible eating disorders (p<0.001) and with the nutritional status (p=0.016). The university students with distortion of body image that were 5.29-folder higher (CI 95%: 2.15-13.09) when compared with no disorders group. The possible eating disorders indicators and distortion body image were higher in females and the higher nutritional status prevalence in males. The objective of this study was to identify the relationships possible eating disorders and distortion of body image in physical education students. This study identified cardiovascular risk factors (CRF) in students from Tri-Border Region: Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. Study participants were 1.183 adolescents of both sexes, ages from 15 to 18 years, who completed a questionnaire to identify the CRF. The proportion of adolescents with four or more CRF was 65.2%. Brazilian male adolescents had the highest prevalence of insufficiently active (78.3%), while the low consumption of vegetables (39.4%) and high time in sedentary activities (83.1%) were higher in Argentinean male adolescents. Paraguayan female adolescents had the highest proportion of insufficiently active (83.0%), while the high time in TV and media, low consumption of fruit, alcohol consumption and the clustering of four or more CRF were higher in Argentinean female adolescents (38.3%, 92.5%, 59.7% and 69.2%, respectively). These results may contribute to policies of healthy lifestyle promotion in the Tri-Border Region.

This study aimed to verify the association between moment of the undergraduate course and cardiovascular risk factors in a representative sample of university students. METHODS A total of 1,599 university students (1,197 freshmen and 402 seniors) were investigated for the following risk factors: insufficient practice of physical activity, tobacco and alcohol consumption, poor eating habits, excess body weight, increased waist circumference and elevated arterial pressure. Information regarding the practice of physical activity were obtained using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) instrument, the behaviors using the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance, and the socio-environmental information using the methodology of the Associação Brasileira de Empresas de Pesquisa (Brazilian Association of Research Companies). RESULTS A significantly higher probability of presenting the following risk factors was verified among the senior students: insufficient practice of physical activity, smoked, consumed alcohol or drank alcohol in excess within the last thirty days. CONCLUSION The results suggest that students closer to the end of the undergraduate course show a higher possibility of presenting some cardiovascular risk factors than those just entering the university environment. Therefore, prevention programs and health promotion during the undergraduate course should be investigated.

The clustering of several factors may be at greater risk to the individual than a single risk factor. The aim of this study was to compare the prevalence of clustering factors between senior students (402) and freshmen students (1,197). The risk factors observed were the insufficient physical activity, the behaviors of smoking, drinking and eating habits. The obesity, abdominal fat and high blood pressure were measured. The clustering of risk factor was categorized according to the frequency, 1 to 3; 4 to 6; 7 or more. The prevalences between the graduation periods were compared using the chi-square test. The prevalence of 1 to 3 clustered risk factors was higher among freshmen (39.3%) than senior students (25.1%) p <0.001. Prevalence of 4 and 6 clustered risk factors were more among senior students (67.7%) than freshmen (55.5%) p <0.001, as well as clustered of 7 or more risk factors (7.2% among senior students and 4.1% to freshmen) p <0.01. Therefore, the greatest number of clustered risk factors was found in senior students compared to freshmen. Descriptors: Students; Risk Factors; Physical Activity; Cardiovascular Diseases.

UNLABELLED The objective of this study was to correlate CRF with cardiovascular risk factors in T1DM children. METHODS Fifty children and adolescents aged between 9 and 17 years with no diabetes complications and a mean diabetes duration of 4.6 years were selected. Antropometric, sexual maturation and blood pressure data were evaluated. CRF level was assessed with a 20-m shuttle run test. Laboratory tests were performed to verify fasting lipids and glycated hemoglobin. Statistical analyses were made with Pearson partial correlation, t test, and one-way ANOVA, with p≤0.05. RESULTS After adjustment for body adiposity and sexual maturity, inverse correlations among CRF and TC, TG, TC/HDL-C, TG/HDL-C, non-HDL-C, and SBP were statistically significant. Variables differing by sex included weight Z score, BMI Z score, skinfold thickness, percentage of body fat, and DBP. Boys had higher CRF compared to girls. CRF and TC differed significantly by sexual maturation status. CONCLUSION An inverse and significant relationship between CRF and most lipid profiles components and SBP in poor controlled T1DM children and adolescents was found, independently of body adiposity.
