The objective of this study was to identify the relationships possible eating disorders and distortion of body image in physical education students. The sample was composed by 229 students (45.6% males). The body image was analyzed by mean Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) and the eating disorders through Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26). The presence of possible eating disorders was associated with distortion of body image (p<0.001) and not with nutritional status (p=0.448). Already the distortion in body image was associated both with possible eating disorders (p<0.001) and with the nutritional status (p=0.016). The university students with distortion of body image that were 5.29-folder higher (CI 95%: 2.15-13.09) when compared with no disorders group. The possible eating disorders indicators and distortion body image were higher in females and the higher nutritional status prevalence in males. The objective of this study was to identify the relationships possible eating disorders and distortion of body image in physical education students. This study identified cardiovascular risk factors (CRF) in students from Tri-Border Region: Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. Study participants were 1.183 adolescents of both sexes, ages from 15 to 18 years, who completed a questionnaire to identify the CRF. The proportion of adolescents with four or more CRF was 65.2%. Brazilian male adolescents had the highest prevalence of insufficiently active (78.3%), while the low consumption of vegetables (39.4%) and high time in sedentary activities (83.1%) were higher in Argentinean male adolescents. Paraguayan female adolescents had the highest proportion of insufficiently active (83.0%), while the high time in TV and media, low consumption of fruit, alcohol consumption and the clustering of four or more CRF were higher in Argentinean female adolescents (38.3%, 92.5%, 59.7% and 69.2%, respectively). These results may contribute to policies of healthy lifestyle promotion in the Tri-Border Region.

This study aims to validate the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Exercise Motivations Inventory (EMI-2). The original version was translated into Portuguese and back-translated into English. After minor changes identified in the translation process, the Portuguese version of the EMI-2 showed semantic, idiomatic, cultural and conceptual equivalences. The final version of the translated EMI-2 was administered in sample of 2380 university of both sexes to identify the psychometric properties. The adequacy of the translated version with 44 items distributed among 10 factors was tested, and construct confirmatory validity for the selected sample was assumed. The results showed Cronbachs alpha coefficient acceptable (.738 to .918) and 78.4% of items had substantial kappa index of agreement (> 61%) when the application of the questionnaire was repeated. In conclusion, the translation, cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric qualities of the EMI-2 were satisfactory, thus enabling its application in studies in Brazil.

Objective The goal of this study was to identify the prevalence of symptoms of eating disorders in female students enrolled in state elementary schools and investigate a possible association between these eating disorders and smoking, illicit drug use and depressive episodes. Methods The Bulimic Investigatory Test of Edinburgh with symptom and severity scales and the Eating Attitudes Test - 26 with additional questions on smoking, illicit drug use and depressive episodes were used. The sample consisted of roughly 300 female students aged 10 to 15 years. Results The results showed that 4.2% and 3.6% of the students presented symptoms of eating disorders according to the Bulimic Investigatory Test of Edinburgh and Eating Attitudes Test - 26, respectively. The rates of smoking, illicit drug use and depressive episodes were 4.2%, 4.9% and 10.7%, respectively. Depressive episodes were significantly associated with the following parameters: Bulimic Investigatory Test of Edinburgh - symptom scale (p=0.04) and Bulimic Investigatory Test of Edinburgh - severity scale (p=0.02). Smoking (p=0.01) and illicit drug use (p=0.04) were also associated with the Bulimic Investigatory Test of Edinburgh - symptom scale. Conclusion This study found that these students were at high risk of developing risky behaviors, such as eating disorders and depressive episodes.

The clustering of several factors may be at greater risk to the individual than a single risk factor. The aim of this study was to compare the prevalence of clustering factors between senior students (402) and freshmen students (1,197). The risk factors observed were the insufficient physical activity, the behaviors of smoking, drinking and eating habits. The obesity, abdominal fat and high blood pressure were measured. The clustering of risk factor was categorized according to the frequency, 1 to 3; 4 to 6; 7 or more. The prevalences between the graduation periods were compared using the chi-square test. The prevalence of 1 to 3 clustered risk factors was higher among freshmen (39.3%) than senior students (25.1%) p <0.001. Prevalence of 4 and 6 clustered risk factors were more among senior students (67.7%) than freshmen (55.5%) p <0.001, as well as clustered of 7 or more risk factors (7.2% among senior students and 4.1% to freshmen) p <0.01. Therefore, the greatest number of clustered risk factors was found in senior students compared to freshmen. Descriptors: Students; Risk Factors; Physical Activity; Cardiovascular Diseases.
