Factors influencing acceptance of e-learning by teachers in the Czech Republic

Effects of various factors on the acceptance of e-learning (AEL) were studied.Prior experience with e-learning has no effect on AEL.Positive expectations before an e-learning course have significant effect on AEL.Teachers working individually through the courses exhibit higher level of AEL.Positive subjective evaluation of various aspects of the course lead to high AEL. The goal of this study was to explore the factors which impact the acceptance of an e-learning course by teachers of elementary and secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The survey involved 228 teachers from 68 different primary and secondary schools. These teachers took part in some of 16 different asynchronous on-line courses aimed at the use of modern technologies in education. It was found that the factors with major impact on the e-learning course acceptance include the voluntary participation of teachers in the course and the positive expectations held before the course start (p<0.001). Working through the course on ones own and the subjective evaluation of various aspects of the course plays an important role as well (p<0.001). The factors which had no statistically significant impact (p0.05) included the teachers age, gender, type of school, prior experience with e-learning, individual habits in terms of completing voluntary tasks and taking notes, the involvement in discussions during the course and the time schedule of the course. We conclude that considerable attention should be paid to the psychological aspects of further education of Czech teachers using e-learning.

Jak zkoumat ICT v každodenní práci učitele aneb videostudie jako kvalitativní metoda

Přispěvek sumarizuje zakladni metodologicke obrysy výzkumneho projektu Informacni a komunikacni technologie v každodenni praci ucitele (grant GA CR c. 406/06/1022), na němž autoři aktualně pracuji. Snaži se ukazat, zda a jakým způsobem je videostudie jako metoda sběru dat využitelna v kvalitativnim výzkumnem designu. Diskutuje se zde rovněž užitecnost propojeni dat z videostudie s daty z hloubkových rozhovorů pro dosaženi komplexnějsi perspektivy při zkoumani edukacni reality. Zaroveň se předklada k nahlednuti analytický postup při praci se ziskanými daty.

Pedagogika a nové výzvy výzkumu ICT : role digitálních technologií v každodenním životě a učení mládeže

Stať diskuzniho charakteru se zabýva problematikou uceni mladeže v různých kontextech a prostředich v eře digitalnich technologii. Mladež se s digitalnimi technologiemi běžně setkava jak ve skole, tak zejmena mimo skolu, tradicně se vsak pedagogický výzkum věnuje předevsim skolnimu využiti ICT. Je tedy velkou výzvou pro pedagogiku tyto oblasti propojit s cilem poznat komplexněji život a uceni soucasne mladeže. V uvodni casti se zaměřujeme na soucasný stav pedagogickeho výzkumu, ukazujeme take, že ICT nelze považovat pouze za moderni didaktickou pomůcku. V dalsich castech diskutujeme možna teoreticka východiska tematu. Nasledně se zabývame metodologickými otazkami empirickeho výzkumu, přicemž prezentujeme take přiklady realizovaných výzkumů, ktere jdou za ramec tradicnich výzkumů formalniho uceni s ICT. V zavěru se pak zamýslime nad teoretickými, metodologickými i aplikacnimi otazkami, jež souviseji s takto komplexně pojatým pedagogickým výzkumem mladeže. Jednim z cilů teto stati je motivovat k diskuzi o pedagogicke teorii a výzkumu uceni dnesni mladeže s ICT a podnitit tak teoretickou i výzkumnou cinnost v teto oblasti.

Život Karla – příběh učitele v socialistickém Československu

Studie představuje životni přiběh ucitele, který větsinu sveho života prožil v době komunismu, přicemž během sve ucitelske kariery vyucoval na několika skolach a dožil se i padu komunistickeho režimu v roce 1989. Výzkum je založen na biograficke metodě, ale využili jsme rovněž rozhovory s kolegy a žaky ucitele, studovali jsme rovněž relevantni archivni dokumenty i dalsi sekundarni zdroje. Životni přiběh ucitele přinesl poznatky nejenom o každodennim životě skol a ucitelske profesi, ale take o skolstvi v době nastupujici komunisticke diktatury. Nas výzkum rovněž ukazal, že (nahla) umrti pamětniků mohou výrazně ovlivnit využiti biograficke metody. Na zakladě naseho výzkumu se domnivame, že studium životnich přiběhů ucitelů ma velký potencial nejen odhalovat nove poznatky o životě a profesi ucitele v totalitni spolecnosti, ale take to, jaka byla každodenni realita komunistickeho režimu i tehdejsiho skolstvi.

“You have betrayed us for a little dirty money!” The Prague Spring as seen by primary school teachers

Abstract This study focuses on the everyday operation of primary schools in Czechoslovakia during the so-called Prague Spring and the subsequent communist political clampdown after the invasion by the Warsaw Pact forces. The authors focus primarily on the experiences of teachers, how events in this complex period affected their professional lives, and how the renewal of totalitarian power was reflected in their work. The research is based on oral history as a method which enabled us to acquire unique knowledge concerning the work and life of teachers in the period under study. Findings from extensive archival research are also an important part of the research. These show that during the Prague Spring, as in Czechoslovak society as a whole, the socio-political climate in primary schools relaxed and communist power weakened, as reflected both in school operation and in-class instruction. After the Warsaw Pact invasion in August 1968, the regime became stricter again in schools and elsewhere (similar to before the onset of the Prague Spring). This was manifested especially in the constant control of teachers’ activities during the Prague Spring, in their persecution, and through the increasing emphasis on ideological aspects of teacher training and pupil formation through instruction.

Primary School Teachers as a Tool of Secularisation of Society in Communist Czechoslovakia.

Abstract This study focuses on the secularisation of society in communist Czechoslovakia (1948–1989) as a process in which primary school teachers played an important role. It aims to describe and explain typical everyday situations in which teachers were forced to fulfil tasks in connection with the Communist Party’s politics of secularisation. The text is based on witness memories obtained through oral history interviews, and on examination of historical archival sources and legislation. The study shows that the situations in which teachers found themselves in connection with performing these tasks were often not easy to face. This was, on the one hand, due to the expectations of the political establishment that teachers would obey their instructions meticulously and without reservations. The teachers, on the other hand, strove to interfere in negative ways with the lives of their students (and their families) as little as possible.

Using process mining to analyze students' quiz-taking behavior patterns in a learning management system

Cilem clanku je prozkoumat chovani a způsoby interakce studentů v různých typech on-line testových aktivit v ramci systemu pro řizeni výuky (LMS). Problematika analyzovani chovani studentů v on-line ucebnich aktivitach a detekovani specifických forem interakci v ramci LMS je intenzivně řesena v ramci výzkumných oblasti oznacovaných jako dolovani dat ve vzdělavani (educational data mining) a analytika uceni (learning analytics). Dosavadni studie se vsak zaměřovaly předevsim na frekvencni analýzy, aniž by se podrobněji zabývaly casovým aspektem chovani studentů v průběhu plněni testových aktivit. Z toho důvodu v tomto clanku zaujimame procesně orientovaný přistup a zaměřujeme se na možnosti využiti metod dolovani procesnich dat (process mining) v kontextu on-line uceni a hodnoceni studijnich výsledků. Za ucelem prozkoumani siroke skaly možných vzorců chovani analyzujeme interakci studentů v několika on-line testech, ktere pochazeji z různých kurzů a jsou použivany pro různe ucely. S využitim metod dolovani procesnich dat pak identifikujeme specificke typy interakcnich sekvenci, ktere vrhaji nove světlo na strategie studentů při vyplňovani testů v LMS. Domnivame se, že tato zjistěni maji zasadni význam pro výzkumniky, kteři studuji chovani studentů v on-line prostředi, jakož i pro vzdělavatele v praxi, kteři využivaji on-line testy pro ucely uceni a hodnoceni studentů.

Pojetí výuky a profesní identita začínajících vysokoškolských učitelů

The aim of this paper is to describe approaches to teaching taken by beginning teachers at Masaryk University. The paper stems from an analysis of 19 deep semi-structured interviews with beginning teachers from various faculties. The paper specifies different approaches to teaching while placing emphasis on transmission of knowledge and interaction with students, which it establishes as dominant among them. The paper further identifies three types of self-perception among beginning teachers who see themselves as either research-oriented or teaching-oriented or else as universal teachers who manage both. Cesta k učitelství v socialistickém Československu pohledem pamětníků

Autoři se ve sve studii zaměřuji na ucitele zakladnich skol a jejich cestu k profesi ucitele v socialistickem Ceskoslovensku. Jejim hlavnim cilem je prohloubeni a doplněni dosavadnich poznatků o studiu ucitelstvi. V textu autoři odpovidaji na tři otazky: Co předchazelo studiu ucitelstvi? Jak ucitele reflektuji svoji pregradualni připravu? Jak se promitla do jejich studia tehdejsi ideologie? Hlavni metodou sběru dat byla metoda oralni historie a rovněž studium archivnich pramenů a legislativnich dokumentů. Autoři popisuji a vysvětluji motivaci ke studiu ucitelstvi, ale take různe podoby přijimani ke studiu i důvody k nepřijeti. V dalsi casti jsou vysvětleny některe konkretni dopady mnoha nepromyslených reforem na studium ucitelů, dale je popsana problematika praxi i tzv. ideologicka výchova.

Problematika ICT ve vzdělávání v českých pedagogických časopisech (1990–2012)

Cilem studie je zmapovat problematiku ICT ve vzdělavani na strankach vybraných ceských odborných casopisů. Studie je založena na analýze medialnich sděleni, svým zaměřenim i metodologii navazuje na předchozi analýzy provedene jak v Ceske republice, tak v zahranici. Studie postihuje obdobi 1990–2012, ve kterem bylo nalezeno celkem 60 přispěvků k problematice ICT. Mezi klicova z jistěni patři poměrně nizký výskyt empirických studii a relativně nizký pocet zahranicnich referenci. V zavěru studie se autoři zamýsleji nad výsledky a davaji je do souvislosti s nalezy obdobných setřeni v zahranici.
