Acessibilidade de pessoas com deficiência ou restrição permanente de mobilidade ao SUS

The scope of this study was to monitor the access of persons with disabilities and permanent mobility restrictions to the Unified Health System in Joao Pessoa, State of Pernambuco. This is a descriptive field study, consisting of a random sample of 523 people with disabilities or permanent mobility restrictions. Data collection occurred between August 2007 and December 2008 and consisted of home interviews. The neuromusculoskeletal functions and those related to movement (52%) were among the most affected body functions, with a higher incidence among body structures related to movement (44.2%) and those of the nervous system (39.2%), with special emphasis on the high number of cases (14%) due to the sequelae from strokes. Among the respondents, 63.9% stated that there had not been sufficient and appropriate means to lessen the physical obstacles between their homes and the places where they received healthcare, and 41.7% claimed that there were no special facilities for the handicapped in the healthcare offices. Brazilian law ensures rights for people with disabilities, which were not broadly respected. Action is necessary to prevent the development of disabilities, especially those resulting from the sequelae from strokes.

A experiência na extensão popular e a formação acadêmica em fisioterapia

As atividades de extensao universitaria vem ganhando espaco crescente no meio academico. Entretanto, existem concepcoes e ideologias diversas norteando estas praticas. Nos cursos de graduacao em Fisioterapia, em geral, as atividades de extensao sao bastante pontuais; mesmo as que funcionam de forma mais regular tem, predominantemente, um carater assistencialista. Este trabalho se propoe a relatar uma experiencia de extensao em fisioterapia, que e realizada em uma comunidade periferica de Joao Pessoa e se orienta pelos principios da educacao popular. Registra-se a importância dessa experiencia para a formacao dos academicos de fisioterapia, no sentido de lhes possibilitar uma aproximacao com a realidade social da populacao, vivenciando a atuacao na atencao basica, estabelecendo vinculos com as pessoas e organizacoes da comunidade, pautados no dialogo e na responsabilidade social.

Promoção da saúde: a concepção dos profissionais de uma unidade de saúde da família

The purpose of this article is to analyze the concepts that guide the practices of health promotion by professionals at a family health unit in the city of Joao Pessoa, state of Paraiba, Brazil. A qualitative survey was carried out, with interview techniques and participatory observations, involving semi-structured interviews and field diaries. Data was collected between April and May, 2010. The key participants were six members of a health promotion management commission and another two professionals, recommended by the commission, thus totaling eight interviewees. The interviews and the field diaries were analyzed based on the discourse analysis method. The analysis categories were concepts of health promotion, knowledge of the National Health Promotion Policy and health promotion initiatives, from planning to execution. Documents from international conferences on health promotion and the National Health Promotion Policy were all used as theoretical references. The interviewees proved to have an extensive knowledge of health care, which directly influenced their concept of health promotion; however, there is incoherence between the discourse and the practice. This study is expected to contribute to a reflection on the health promotion activities undertaken by these professionals.

Support networks and people with physical disabilities: social inclusion and access to health services

This study seeks to identify the formation of social support networks of people with physical disabilities, and how these networks can help facilitate access to health services and promote social inclusion. It is a cross-sectional study, with data collected via a form applied to physically disabled persons over eighteen years of age registered with the Family Health Teams of the municipal district of João Pessoa in the state of Paraíba. It was observed that the support networks of these individuals predominantly consist of family members (parents, siblings, children, spouses) and people outside the family (friends and neighbors). However, 50% of the interviewees declared that they could not count on any support from outside the family. It was observed that the support network contributes to access to the services and participation in social groups. However, reduced social inclusion was detected, due to locomotion difficulties, this being the main barrier to social interaction. Among those individuals who began to interact in society, the part played by social support was fundamental.

Extensão Popular na formação profissional em saúde para o SUS: refletindo uma experiência*

O presente relato objetiva abordar a influencia da Extensao Popular na formacao universitaria em saude para o SUS, considerando a vivencia de uma estudante de enfermagem. Serao considerados os aprendizados adquiridos nas atividades desenvolvidas no Projeto Educacao Popular e Atencao a Saude da Familia (Pepasf): visitas domiciliares, reunioes semanais e nos espacos de articulacao politica comunitaria. As visitas domiciliares semanais aproximam o estudante do mundo popular que, por meio do vinculo, desenvolve novas maneiras de pensar e fazer saude; as reunioes semanais trabalham principios da interdisciplinaridade rumo ao trabalho integral em saude e; nos espacos de articulacao comunitaria, o estudante se engaja nas lutas e aprende a estimular a participacao popular. A Extensao Popular constitui uma alternativa ante o ensino na universidade que tem contribuido para uma formacao em saude coerente com os principios do SUS.

O PET-Saúde da Família e a formação de profissionais da saúde: a percepção de estudantes

Trata-se de estudo com abordagem qualitativa, cujo objetivo foi analisar a contribuicao do Programa de Educacao pelo Trabalho para a Saude (PET– Saude da Familia) para a formacao dos futuros profissionais de saude de uma universidade publica do Nordeste do Brasil. Foram utilizados dados secundarios do instrumento de avaliacao semestral do programa, respondido por 67 estudantes dos cursos de: Educacao Fisica, Enfermagem, Fisioterapia, Medicina, Nutricao e Odontologia. Os resultados foram sistematizados em duas categorias de analise: o trabalho interprofissional e a integracao ensino-servico. O estudo evidenciou: a importância do trabalho interprofissional e colaborativo, a integracao ensino-servico-comunidade, e a reflexao das praticas impulsionadas pelo PET-Saude da Familia para a mudanca no processo formativo em saude. Estrategias como essa sao essenciais para a formacao e o aperfeicoamento de profissionais para o Sistema Unico de Saude (SUS).

Networks of social support of the families with disabled children

Objective: to analyze the changes which occur in the networks of social support for families with disabled children after their birth. Method: this is about a descriptive, cross-sectional study, from quantitative approach. Data was collected by a questionnaire with thirteen questions and analyzed by the SPPS-15. The study was approved by the Committee of Ethics of University Hospital Lauro Wanderley, protocol number 327/09. The sample study was of sixty families of disabled children registered at Associação de Pais e Amigos dos Excepcionais/APAE, in João Pessoa/PB city. Results: the importance of large families within the networks of social support was verified before and after the childrens births. It was observed a great demand for religious and informative support. It was also observed a lessening of socialization after the birth of disabled children. Lastly it was perceived an outstanding importance of multi-professional support in the treatment of the referred children. Conclusion: results showed the importance of social support for families of disabled children as far as new and future situations are concerned. Metodologias ativas de ensino-aprendizagem e educação popular: encontros e desencontros no contexto da formação dos profissionais de saúde

Trata-se de reflexao acerca dos encontros e desencontros entre as metodologias pedagogicas ativas e a educacao popular, no contexto da formacao dos profissionais de saude. Parte-se de uma reflexao acerca das bases epistemologicas da educacao popular e das principais metodologias ativas, consideradas no contexto de sua utilizacao na formacao dos profissionais de saude. A educacao popular propoe uma fusao radical entre os meios e fins pedagogicos, ja que a conscientizacao e ao mesmo tempo metodologia e objetivo formativo. As metodologias ativas podem ser metodos identificados com um processo pedagogico centrado no aluno e produtor de autonomia, desde que nao sejam utilizadas como metodos isolados, dentro de uma logica utilitaria caracteristica da educacao bancaria. Neste sentido, conclui-se que a educacao popular pode ser um importante analisador das metodologias ativas, ajudando a consolidar sua utilizacao em processos formativos libertadores, no contexto dos cursos de saude.

Coping strategies for caregivers of children with a chronic disease: a methodological study

Aim: To develop a decision support model to identify coping strategies for caregivers, with regard to chronic diseases in childhood. Method: methodological study carried out in two stages: detecting the problem and establishing rules for making decisions. It was based on a study conducted with the caregivers of children with chronic diseases. Result: it is logical model for decision support. Discussion: coping strategies focused on the problem, seeking support with the aid of religious and social support networks, act positively in terms of adapting to chronic diseases; however, strategies focusing on emotion generate a negative response. Conclusion: the model of decision support can assist health professionals in identifying coping strategies that facilitate or hinder the adaptation of caregivers concerning chronic diseases in childhood.
