This article provides an overview of sport policies in Brazil. The investigation methodology involved a critical analysis of important national policy documents dedicated to the subject. The article begins with an analysis of the creation of the field, since the passage of the first laws in the 1940s, up to the current stage of Brazilian sport. As a conclusion, the paper finds that the sports policy in Brazil moved away from an the organization model centred only on the state. However, it was noted that, despite the greater autonomy of sports entities, it is public funding that maintains the sports structure in the country.

Located on the northeast of Santa Catarina, in the Itajai Valley, Blumenau is known in Brazil as one of the cities with greater German influence over its culture and history. Therefore, the following question guides this essay: how did German immigrants use shooting clubs as a means for the emergence of a physical culture in the city? The analyses point to the centrality of the Schutzenvereine as important spaces to develop and cultivate traditions and bodily practices brought from the old continent as well as to establish important devices for consolidation of a physical culture by part of Blumenau’s residents.

Understanding football as a phenomenon that not only reproduces gender distinctions but also creates and reinforces them, this study identifies stances taken by experienced female football players who disregarded gender norms in some ways. Oral History methodology was used to prepare and analyze interviews with two former members of the Brazilian national team. Their reminiscences showed marks of pressure to adapt to gender patterns. Moreover, in order to consolidate their identities, they said they know recurrent cases of bias against women who play football but considered themselves immune to them because they have well-marked female characteristics. Finally, while they feel hurt by some pressures, they somehow act to consolidate the standards.

One of the most evident aspects in the contemporary world is the central place occupied by the technological ways of production and reproduction of information. They take an always larger space in our lives, catalyzing our emotions and our attitudes facing the world and showing their gloomier side when collaborating with the maintenance of the status quo. We observed the influence of the Cultural Industry in several ambits, as well as in the school. Than we discussed the teachers role taking the media in account: is he a hero or a villain? The discussion had as a starting point the fact that the teacher is inserted in that society, feeling and thinking according its concepts, often commercial, unjust and prejudicious. The study goes then, in the direction of a valorization of the teachers education in humanities, starting from a reflection on himself and, so, transporting it into his pedagogic practice.
