Permanent education emphasizes on the interdisciplinarity of the health team, focuses on practice as the source of knowledge and places professionals as active actors of the educational process. The objective of this study was to identify demands and expectations, i.e. factors that interfere in the qualification of nursing workers of a university hospital, and propose capacitation practices from the perspective of permanent education. The investigation process founded on the principles of action-research was performed from 2007 to 2008. Subjects were nurses, nursing technicians and nursing aides. Data collection was performed in training workshops with 114 nursing workers. The results permitted to identify the institutional conditions in which educational actions take place, the possibility of mobilizing workers to identify and solve problems at works, and the need to make changes in training practices. Historic-social research aiming at: characterize the nursing superior teaching in Juiz de Fora city and to discuss the reason and motivations which determined the creation of Nursing Course of the Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora. Primary source: written documents and oral testimony. The results discussion was guided by Pierre Bourdieu. In the 1970s, Education Ministry Department of University Subjects undertook efforts to create nursing courses in federal universities. As the process of negotiation meant to incorporate Hermantina Beraldo Nursing College to Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora failed, in 1978 a Department of Nursing was bind to UFJF Medical College and, in 1970, the Nursing Course of this same university started functioning.

The aim of this socio-historical study was to describe the insertion process of nurses and to analyze the reformulation strategies of nur...Estudo socio historico cujos objetivos sao o de descrever o processo de insercao de enfermeiros e analisar as estrategias de reformulacao do cuidado de enfermagem na Casa de Saude Esperanca, no periodo de 1994 a 1998. Fontes historicas, documentos escritos e orais, forma analisados com base no conceito de saber/poder de Michel Foucault. Os resultados mostraram que, apos quase tres decadas funcionando com ausencia ou com apenas uma enfermeira, a Casa de Saude Esperanca contratou quatro enfermeiros visando atender exigencias legais de funcionamento. Para ampliar o saber/poder da enfermagem, os enfermeiros promoveram reunioes e capacitacoes junto a equipe. Concluimos que as estrategias utilizadas produziram efeitos como: maior reconhecimento do saber/poder da enfermagem, o saber pratico deu lugar ao saber cientifico; desenvolvimento de uma assistencia mais humanizada; credenciamento da instituicao em psiquiatria IV, que pela classificacao dos hospitais psiquiatricos permite seu funcionamento em convenio com o Sistema Unico de Saude.

This study of social-historical approach aimed to discuss nursing formation in the first decade (1979 a 1989) after the creation of the nursing graduation course at Federal University of Juiz de Fora. The primary sources were composed by archived documents and testimonies from teachers who went through this historic moment. The data were collected in 2009, organized and classified in accordance with the historical method to light of Pierre Bourdieu‘s theory. The data analysis allowed evidence the strategically actions by the nursing teachers interested in preserving the characteristics of the Nursing School teaching Hermantina Beraldo in the first decade of course establishment at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora.O curso de graduacao em enfermagem foi criado na Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora em 1979, com a incorporacao do corpo social da Faculdade de Enfermagem Hermantina Beraldo. Este estudo de abordagem historico-social objetivou discutir a formacao do enfermeiro na primeira decada (1979 a 1989) apos a criacao do curso de graduacao na Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora. As fontes primarias foram documentos arquivados e depoimentos de professores que vivenciaram este momento historico.
