Propriedades psicométricas da versão brasileira da escala triangular do amor de sternberg

Vicente Cassepp-Borges; Maycoln Leôni Martins Teodoro

The Sternbergs Triangular Love Scale (STLS) has 45 items related to intimacy, passion, and decision/commitment. The objective of this study was to investigate some psychometric properties of the STLS in Brazil. The Brazilian version of STLS, the Test of Family Identification (FIT) and a measure of satisfaction in the relationship were completed by 361 students from three universities. The factorial analysis of STLS showed a structure with 3 factors and elevated internal consistency. Seeking to improve the instrument, the number of items of the scale was reduced. The new factorial analysis indicated that the original psychometric properties were maintained. Positive correlations were found between the measurements of love and the level of satisfaction with the relationship. The results indicate that the Brazilian version of ETAS possesses adequate and satisfactory psychometric properties

BACKGROUND All previous longitudinal community studies assessing the continuity of child behavioral/emotional problems were conducted in developed countries. METHOD Six hundred and one children randomly selected from a Brazilian birth cohort were evaluated for behavioral/emotional problems through mother interview at 4 and 12 years with the same standard procedure - Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL). RESULTS CBCL Total Problem score presented a medium stability (r = .42) with externalizing problems showing higher stability and more homotypic continuity than internalizing problems. Of the children presenting deviant scores at the age of 4, only 31% remained deviant at the age of 12 (p < .001). A deviant CBCL Total Problem score at 12 years old was predicted by Rule-Breaking Behavior [OR = 7.46, 95% CI 2.76-20.19] and Social Problems [OR = 3.56, 95% CI 1.36-9.30] scores at 4 years of age. Either Rule-Breaking or Aggressive Behavior - externalizing syndromes - were part of the predictors for the three broad-band CBCL scores and six out of the eight CBCL syndromes. CONCLUSIONS Behavioral/emotional problems in preschool children persist moderately up to pre-adolescence in a community sample. Externalizing problems at the age of 4 comprise the developmental history of most behavioral/emotional problems at pre-adolescence. Our findings concur with findings from developed countries and are quite similar for continuity, stability and predictability.

Maycoln Leôni Martins Teodoro; Bruna Moraes Cardoso; Ana Carolina Huff Freitas

The presence of a healthy relation between a child and his/her parents is an important factor for the prevention of psychopathologies as depression. The objective of this research was to investigate the psychometrics properties of the Familiogram, and the association of the results of affectivity and family conflict with the intensity of depressive symptoms in children and adolescents. Two hundred thirty four students participated of the study (133 female, 56.8%) and their ages ranged from 8 to 14 years old (Mean=11.19, SD=1.76). The participants answered the Familiogram and the Children Depression Inventory. The Familiogram presented satisfactory psychometrics properties. Depression correlated negatively with the affectivity (r=-0.33) and positively with the conflict (r=0.32). Results point to the association of little affective and problematic family relations with the intensity of the depressive symptoms.

The understanding of family relationships is related to the development of valid and reliable psychological instruments. In this way, the present study intended to evaluate some validity properties of the Perception of Family Support Inventory (PFSI) and Familiogram (FG). Both instruments were answered by 260 college students of two Brazilian cities. The total sample was composed by people of both genders, aged between 18 and 30 years old (Mean=22.54, SD=3.69). The results indicated that Emotional-Consistent and Family Adaptation factors moderately correlated with Affection and Conflict constructs. On the other hand, Autonomy has low correlations with FG factors. Implications of those results for the validity of PSFI and FG are discussed.

A teoria triangular do amor de Sternberg e o modelo dos cinco grandes fatores

Bruna Gomes Mônego; Maycoln Leôni Martins Teodoro

This present study investigated the influence of personality traits according to the Big Five Factors (CGF) model and to love according to Sternberg’s Triangular Theory of Love in marital satisfaction. Sample was composed by 192 undergraduate students who experienced a loving relationship classified as an informal relationship, dating/engagement or wedding. Participants answered the “Escala Fatorial de Satisfacao em Relacionamento de Casal”, the Sternberg’s Triangular Love Scale and the “Bateria Fatorial de Personalidade”. Data showed different patterns of correlation for each type of relationship and multiple linear regression model was significant ( F = 23.19, df = 10, p <0.001) and explained 58% of the variance. The intimacy, passion and conscientiousness constructs contributed positively to the satisfaction, while neuroticism had a negative influence. The commitment component and the other personality traits did not reach statistical significance.

Perspectives and Challenges Regarding Brazilian Policies for Research and Postgraduate Studies in Psychology

Raquel Souza Lobo Guzzo; Maria Beatriz Martins Linhares; Maycoln Leôni Martins Teodoro; Silvia Helena Koller

The National Association of Research and Postgraduate Studies in Psychology (ANPEPP) promotes exchange among researchers to develop and consolidate lines of research, through the discussion of action strategies and decisions that impact Brazilian scientific policy. Themes such as postgraduate research training, national production and the internationalization of knowledge have been the focus of ANPEPPs biennial research and scientific exchange symposia, in forums on Ethics in Research, Scientific Policies and Internationalization. The Scientific Policy Committee (Comissao de Politicas Cientificas - CPC) is responsible for each symposium, providing and discussing issues for future goals and plans. Themes identified by the CPC in recent biennia (2010/2012 and 2012/2014) relate to official documents on educational policies (National Education Plan - 2010-2020; National Postgraduate Plan - 2010/2020) and their impact on Brazilian postgraduate programs and the production of research in psychology. Recent themes include: encouraging models of scientific production; clarity of the profile of the researcher; and better conditions for the training of scientists for research, technology and innovation. Fulfillment of these actions is essential for the VI National Postgraduate Plan (VI PNPG in Portuguese) goals to take effect and change the research climate of the country. It will do so through improved monitoring of postgraduate programs, adjustment of training curricula for researchers, and internationalization activities. Formulation, development and evaluation of these policies could herald better prospects for a fair and qualitative growth in Brazilian psychology.

Alina Gomide Vasconcelos; Maycoln Leôni Martins Teodoro; Leandro Fernandes Malloy-Diniz; Humberto Correa

The main purpose of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11). Content item analysis was conducted by seven doctoral students. A convenience sample of 897 students was submitted to BIS-11 and they also filled self-reports about Minor Mental Disorder and ADHD symptoms, alcohol use and cigarette smoking. Mean age was 27.32 (SD=8.69) years, 56% were female and 52% had incomplete college degree. Content and factorial analyses revealed that impulsivity was best represented by two latent factors labeled non-planning and inhibition behaviors. Test retest agreement tended to produce similar score patterns seven months after the first evaluation. Additionally, BIS-11 scores discriminated subjects in terms of cigarette smoking and psychopathological symptoms, which indicated evidences regarding criterion-related validity. The theoretical discussion was present based on the neuropsychological model of hot and cool aspects of executive function.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy for treatment of diabetes

Alessandra de Fátima Almeida Assumpção; Carmem Beatriz Neufeld; Maycoln Leôni Martins Teodoro

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease in which short, medium and long-term outcomes are dependent on the self-management of the disease. When the somatic picture is associated with depressive, anxiety and burnout symptoms of DM, it may have a worse prognosis. Thus, it is argued that patients with DM associated with emotional problems need psychotherapeutic attention in order to improve self-care and the relief or minimization of psychopathological symptoms. This article will present the case report of a patient diagnosed with DM1, mild symptoms of depression and burnout of DM attended in the years 2015 and 2016 at Hospital das Clínicas / UFMG. We will discuss the goals set for the treatment and described the intervention performed with CognitiveBehavioral Therapy approach and the Greaves and coleagues (2010) “Process model for supporting lifestyle behaviour change”. In such a model, we represent the phases and the steps that patients are required to go through in order to achieve behavior modification. Finally, will be discussed the main impasses and results achieved in the therapeutic process. The relevant case was considered, because it is possible to notice that psychological intervention contributes greatly to the care of patients with DM.

Teoria da Mente em Pais de Pessoas com Autismo: Uma Análise Comparativa

Aline Abreu e Andrade; Walter Camargos Junior; Priscilla Moreira Ohno; Maycoln Leôni Martins Teodoro
