Nachdem im ersten Teil dieses Beitrags Leichtbaukonzept und konstruktive Merkmale beschrieben wurden [1], wird im vorliegenden Artikel auf Thermodynamik und funktionale Eigenschaften des vollst\:andig neu entwickelten Motors eingegangen.

The new BMW inline six-cylinder spark ignition engine

BMW is currently launching its new inline six-cylinder engine with Valvetronic on worldwide markets, starting with the 630i Coupe und Convertible. Following the description of its weight-saving construction concept and design features in the first part of this article [1], the second part examines the thermodynamics and functional properties of the completely re-developed engine.

High-precision injection in combination with the new BMW twin-turbo petrol engine

The design highlights of the new engine that went into series production in mid-2006 with the 335i Coupe have already been described in the February issue of the MTZ. Continuing with this report, this article deals with the functional aspects of piezo-fuel injection technology used for the first time by BMW in connection with turbocharging which BMW is again reintroducing in petrol engine construction after an absence of more than 20 years.

High Precision Injection in Verbindung mit Aufladung am neuen BMW Twin-Turbo-Ottomotor

In der Februar–Ausgabe der MTZ wurden bereits die konstruktiven Highlights des neuen BMW Twin-Turbo-Ottomotors beschrieben, der Mitte 2006 mit dem 335i Coupe in Serie ging. Als Fortsetzung dieses Berichts befasst sich dieser Artikel mit den funktionalen Aspekten der von BMW erstmals eingesetzten Piezo-Benzineinspritztechnik in Verbindung mit Abgasturboaufladung, die bei BMW im Ottomotorenbau zum ersten Mal seit uber 20 Jahren wieder zum Einsatz kommt.
