Being constituted as the largest risk factor and effective degradation to the Savannah, the man’s intervention in the nature and, especially, the agricultural exploration require analysis and better monitoring. This work aims to analyze the relationship between the agricultural exploration and the environmental degradation in the area of the Savannahs, in 1995-1996. In particular, it is intended, to use multivariate statistical analysis, to verify the factors associated with the intensity of farming predominant in the determination of the degradation pattern, and to obtain indexes of exploration intensity to make possible to categorize and to group the microrregions in terms of degradation potential. The results showed that the intensity of the agricultural exploration was characterized by the intensive use of the soil (agricultural exploration) and by mechanical and biochemistry technologies; by the intensity of cattle exploration; and other dimensions of the agriculture. The microrregions with larger degradation levels concentrated on the northwest of Minas Gerais, part of south of Goias, and part of the southeast of Mato Grosso. The smallest mean values of the degradation index were due to Tocantins, Piaui and Maranhao. The largest index was from the microrregion of Primavera do Leste (MT) and the smallest, Jalapao (TO).

Agricultural activities have historically had great importance in the Economy, and within such context the environment was relegated to secondary importance. Major impacts occurred in environmental degradation terms, leading to the question about which effects towns would have withstood and which similar characteristics are among them. This study attempted to quantify the environmental degradation level of Minas Gerais State’s towns. Specifically, a multivariate analysis attempted to determine such economic, population and biological indicators causing environmental degradation; next, to quantify the degradation in those cities and, finally, to group them according to their similarities. The results showed an average degradation indicator (ID) of 86% for Minas Gerais State; it should be pointed out that more than 40% of those cities had ID values equal to 1. Additionally, other index values were shown above 0.70 that means 70% of the area degraded. The exceptions were the cities of Senator Amaral and Bom Repouso with minimum IDs of 0.04 and 0.10, respectively.

The budget allotment among federal universities is based on a mathematical model that considers the production and the academic performance of each institution in a set of variables, presenting as result the budget amount that each university is entitled. It is essential that university administrators know, follow and are structured in favor of the best results in the variables that follow this model. Investigating the universitys commitment to improve its management skills in support of effective incorporation of the budget model in its habits and routines can lead to discoveries and important contributions to the improvement of management. It has been appealed to the Institutional Theory, from the perspective of stages of Habitualization, Objectification and Sedimentation to identify motivators and inhibitors of the complete institutionalization of the model, the perception of the six managers of budget planning area that, in the period 2001-2011, occupied Forplad’s coordinators function and its Model Committee. Characterized as a descriptive research with a qualitative approach, the applied interviews were submitted to Content Analysis Technique. It can be concluded that the budget model is an instrument of great importance in the process of transparency and university public administration, however, it presents inhibiting factors to its best level of institutionalization in the three stages.

Abstract Water scarcity in Brazil is a reality. Residences in various parts of the country have gone through water rationing through the past years. The Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) is formed by beliefs, attitudes, subjective norms, perceived control and behavioral intentions in relation to a specific behavior. This theory seeks to identify individuals′ behavioral intentions and, consequently, predict peoples′ behavior. This study aimed to identify the beliefs and attitude components, social norms and perceived control in relation to the behavior of saving water. Twenty-six interviews were supported by a questionnaire related to TPB components. The obtained results indicated the attitudes in terms of saving water are related to economic advantages, in financial terms from cheaper water bills. In addition, there is an advantage to society in the future about the water availability for human use, as well as avoiding rationing and preserving a natural resource that is becoming scarce. Regarding to saving water problems, the need to change habits and the possibility of places and belongings getting dirtier over time has been described. The social norms are current present in the family figure, friends and neighbors mainly. In the case of perceived control, changes of habits, government campaigns and even the client - among other factors - were considered as factors that help or hinder individuals trying to save water.
