In vitro antifungal action of different substances over microwaved-cured acrylic resins.

Objective: The presence of Candida albicans on the surfaces of denture-base acrylic resins is strongly related to the development of oral stomatitis. This study evaluated the antifungal action of different agents over microwave-cured acrylic resin without polishing specimens previously contaminated with Candida albicans. Material and Methods: Sixty specimens were immersed in BHI broth previously inoculated with the yeast and stored for 3 h at 37°C. They were divided into 5 experimental groups (n=10): G1: 2% chlorhexidine solution (10 min); G2: 0.5% sodium hypochlorite (10 min); G3: modified sodium hypochlorite (10 min); G4: effervescent agent (5 min); G5: hydrogen peroxide 10v (30 min). The specimens of the control group 1 (C1) were not disinfected. Ten additional specimens of the control group 2 (C2) were not infected with the yeast, aiming to check the asepsis during the experiment. The disinfection agents were neutralized and the acrylic resin specimens were immersed in BHI Broth for 24 h. Culture media turbidity was evaluated spectrophotometrically according to the transmittance degree, i.e. the higher the transmittance the stronger the antimicrobial action. Statistical analysis was performed (Kruskal-Wallis Test, p<0.05). Results: The results, represented by the medians, were: G1 = 40; G2 = 100; G3 = 100; G4 = 90; G5 = 100; C1 = 40; C2 = 100. Conclusions: This in vitro study suggested that sodium hypochlorite-based substances and hydrogen peroxide are more efficient disinfectants against C. albicans than 2% chlorhexidine solution and the effervescent agent.

A concepção dos educadores sobre a temática de educação ambiental na escola: dificuldades e desafios

Em dias atuais, as questoes ambientais vem ganhando repercussao em nivel mundial, diversos sao os fatores que vem intensificando esses problemas, tais como a expansao demografica, o uso descontrolado dos recursos naturais, a poluicao e o desmatamento. O presente trabalho foi desenvolvido em uma Escola Estadual de Ensino Fundamental e Medio, no qual utilizou como instrumento de coleta de dados um questionario semiestruturado sobre a tematica de EA no contexto de sala de aula e a interdisciplinaridade no processo de ensino. A pesquisa justifica-se pela necessidade de mudancas de atitudes relacionadas com os aspectos ambientais, propondo o envolvimento dos professores da escola em atividades relacionadas a Educacao Ambiental, problematizando suas concepcoes sobre as questoes relacionadas a EA no contexto disciplinar. A entrevista buscou compreender a forma como os professores vem trabalhando as questoes relacionadas com a EA no contexto de sala de aula, verificando as dificuldades sentidas durante processo de sensibilizacao dos estudantes frente as questoes ambientais. Contudo, percebe-se que a abordagem das questoes ambientais no contexto de sala de aula, considera-se um grande desafio para os professores, uma vez que, por se tratar de assuntos amplos, diversificados e ricos em conceitos, sentem-se na sua maioria, despreparados para esta abordagem.

PERCEPÇÕES DE ALUNOS SURDOS EM TRILHA ECOLÓGICA COM O USO DOS DIFERENTES SENTIDOS: UMA ABORDAGEM DA EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL

The perception we have to the environment can facilitate the understanding of the world in its various forms. This perception is through our five senses, which help to arouse interest in the environment around us and admiration for the natural world. Whatever the reason, when we are deprived of any sense, we naturally increase the capacity of perception in the other four. Currently means deafness as a difference, featuring deaf subjects as belonging to minority language groups, consisting of social, political and culturally different. With this, this work is justified by the extreme importance of providing deaf subjects practical activities that lead them to use their different senses, in order to better understand the natural environment. For the development of this activity was used the “Path the Lake”, located on the Campus of the University UNISINOS, divided into stations. A group of deaf students went through this path. At the end of the activity the students recorded their perceptions of the path in drawings and answering a questionnaire. It can be observed that the deaf subject using all their senses to perceive the environment holistically. For lack of hearing, are more sensitive to the visual, it established relations with the perfect environment. From the results obtained, we can see that the designs of students present significant elements, as well as their concerns, showing a full understanding of the environment.

Com esta finalidade surgiu a presente proposta, no municipio de Sao Vicente do Sul, que visa auxiliar a aprendizagem e o desempenho escolar utilizando os meios de comunicacao como estrategia a preservar a sustentabilidade humana no planeta. Atraves do radio, da televisao e do jornal e que se coloca em pratica este desafio com o proposito de servir de uma nova alternativa, moderna e incentivadora para as escolas atuais.

O USO DA LÍNGUA INGLESA COMO FERRAMENTA DE ENSINO E APRENDIZAGEM NA EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL: UMA EXPERIÊNCIA NA ESCOLA AGOSTINHA DILL- CONDOR, RS

This paper presents the main results of the Specialization Monograph of the Sensu Lato Post graduate Course on Environmental Education, edition held in 2008 and 2009 by Federal University of Santa Maria in Panambi. This paper aims to use the English language as a tool for sensitization and changes in attitudes in the teaching of environmental education with students from Escola Estadual de Ensino Medio Agostinha Dill Condor/RS, using playful tools, games and activities, to promote environmental education, as well as to verify the knowledge in the school population about environmental issues, and also promote activities, with students in English classes, related to the environment. To supply the proposed goals, bibliographical studies, questionnaires to check the students’ knowledge, and also materials used to sensitize them to wards environmental education, such as videos and informational texts, games and practical activities, were done. The results show that the environmental education used in a school background, brings benefits and knowledge needed to students, which have the main purpose the sustain ability of the planet.

A FORMAÇÃO DE UMA CONSCIÊNCIA SÓCIO AMBIENTAL, ATRAVÉS DA INTERPRETAÇÃO DE TRILHAS

Human societies have suffered a progressive separation of nature, a process of selfdestruction, where a veritable war with the environment. To combat this up, you should reach a new under-standing of the individual in relation to the environment, it may be possible through the formation of a more just social and environmental awareness through the interpretation of tracks environ-mental practices, contextualized within the Perspectives of Environmental Education. The project made use of reflections obtained by the meth-deductive, adopting for the activity of field metho-dology for retrieval/review, with the application of guided trails and nature interpretation. The subjects of the study, 100 high school students of S. S. S. M. Major Bellarmine Court, Cruz Alta/RS. The area used is located in Estância Lara Gruhn, in Cruz Alta/RS, constituting a forest type represented by a fragment of different plant structures, surrounded by crops and pasture. With 1,600 meters long and two hours in length, the trail was considered a low level of difficulty, where according to the responses obtained, we can see that the positive impressions outnumbered nega-tive. Constituting thus a simple practice that can be applied easily and does not require high investments, but rather, conscience and breaks paradigms in order to seek new socio-cultural ha-bits, which, self- sustainable. Where, education and perception appear as defense mechanisms of the natural environment and may contribute to the much-needed rapprochement between man and nature.

The Research on a non-formal was developed by the therapeutic workshop reading ofPsychosocial Care Center 1 (CAPS 1) Sao Sepe / RS, aiming to get through debates and groupdynamics of the election of values about the environment and an awareness of the reality of ourplanet. In addressing the situation of the environment, we can see that through simple actionssuch as use of water in a conscious way, taking care of household waste separation and thecorrect destination of the waste, among others, can contribute to the balance between man andenvironment, respect and care for life in different ways.

In the late nineteenth century was signed by Princess Isabel on May 13, 1888 the law Aurea, freeingall slaves. Aiming to raise questions and envi-ronmental health experienced by the marooncommunities of the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, this study aimed to research and propose theimple-mentation of a program of care to the health needs identified through comments related toenvironmental education and health, for the maroon communities. The study describes the programof government-Federal ProNEA National Environmental Education Programme, ECCP-SharingEducation Programme of the Secretariat of Rio Grande do Sul and the project-pylon Black Presence inthe Field, developed by Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, RS, Brazil. ATUAÇÃO DO SERVIÇO SOCIAL NA EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL JUNTO ÀS FAMÍLIAS CADASTRADAS NO PROGRAMA DE AGENTES COMUNITÁRIOS DE SAÚDE (PACS) EM SÃO SEPÉ, RS

As questoes ambientais nao se apresentam de forma isolada, mas como uma interacao das relacoes sociais e de cidadania vivenciadas pela populacao, alem das suas proprias condicoes de vida. Diante disto, o problema de pesquisa da presente monografia foi verificar as condicoes demograficas, socioeconomicas e ambientais de alguns bairros do municipio de Sao Sepe, interrelacionando o conhecimento de questoes ambientais pela populacao que habita mais proxima ao lixao da cidade e atraves dessa analise identificar alguns pontos a serem trabalhados em educacao ambiental pela equipe de saude e/ou assistencia social do municipio. Para a coleta de dados foi utilizado o questionario como instrumentos. Os dados coletados foram padronizados, codificados e digitados no Excel e construidas tabelas e graficos. Para as perguntas abertas foram utilizadas planilhas. Observou-se que embora haja muito a ser realizado no municipio de Sao Sepe em relacao a educacao ambiental, os primeiros passos estao sendo dados. A populacao analisada, coberta pelo PACS, sendo, portanto a de menor renda, com baixo ou medio nivel de instrucao escolar, aos poucos vem evoluindo na construcao de cidadania, seja na separacao do lixo ou pela percepcao ambiental em evolucao nas atitudes, como o observado pelos alunos da escola proxima ao lixao que apresentam percepcao ambiental e tem consciencia da importância de suas acoes na construcao dessa mudanca de habitos. Espera-se que estes dados contribuam na construcao e evolucao da cidadania e que novas acoes sejam relacionadas a esta tematica tao relevante para a preservacao de nosso planeta.

INCIDÊNCIA DE PARASITOSES HUMANAS DIAGNOSTICADAS NO MUNICÍPIO DE ROSÁRIO DO SUL / RS

The human parasitoids are endemics in many regions of the country, principally where is verypoor. This study aim recognize the human parasitoids with more cases that affect the populationof the Rosario do Sul/RS City, and to search and to propose measures of erradication of thisparasitoids. As the method was used a qualitative and quantitative research with members ofcommunity, medicals and professionals in laboratories and also with bibliographic survey. InRosario do Sul City the parasitoids are in areas where the population have problems with basicsanitation and health education. Here we discuss potential measures to control human parasiticdiseases in the affected communities, based on mass treatment, health education and eradicationof vectors.
