Microelectronic circuits analogous to hydrogen bonding networks in Michaelis complex of beta-lactamase protein

Elitsa Gieva; Rostislav Rusev; George Angelov; R. I. Radonov; Marin Hristov

A microelectronic circuit of block-elements functionally analogous to two hydrogen bonding networks is investigated in the present paper. The hydrogen bonding networks are extracted from Michaelis complex of β-lactamase protein. They are described by electrical circuits. The hydrogen bonds of the networks are presented by three- or four-terminal block-elements in the juxtaposed electrical circuits. The block-elements are coded in Matlab with polynomials and static and dynamic analyses are performed. The circuits behavior appeared to be similar to current source or amplifier, and signal modulator.

Analysis of the impact of CNTFET model parameters on its transfer and output characteristics

Mariya Spasova; Dimitar Nikolov; George Angelov; R. I. Radonov; Marin Hristov

The influence of internal parameters on transfer and output characteristics of a Carbon Nanotube Field Effect Transistor are studied in this paper. For the purposes of the study a CNTFET compact model is used. The compact CNTFET model is coded in Verilog-A and it is simulated in Cadence Spectre circuit simulator. In particular, we have examined how the transfer and output characteristics are altering when changing single parameters or sets of parameters. To compare the simulations results a cost function consisting of the two parameters is employed to quantify the impact of 430 model parameters. The sum of total 430 model parameters are examined and 59 are found to have negligible or no impact on output static characteristics. Three groups of internal model parameters have been recognized, according to their impact on output static characteristics.

Systems for electronic support of the educational process as a behavioural analyst

Valentin Videkov; R. I. Radonov

This paper discusses the application of e-learning systems as a tool for indirect survey. Different modules from the electronic systems used at the Technical University of Sofia for control and assessment of the educational process are presented. The possibilities to summarise data from the application of the electronic means for education as a tool for assessing the behaviour of students are presented. Practical results from such studies are shown.

Remote ECAD laboratory access for the MSc course ‘Advanced Electronics for information and communication systems’

R. I. Radonov; Elitsa Gieva; Slavka Tzanova

The paper presents the remote laboratory practice in computer added design of integrated circuits within the European project “Remote-labs Access in Internet-based Performance-Centered Learning Environment for Curriculum Support”. The ECAD laboratory at the Technical University of Sofia implemented a remote access to the professional microelectronics software (very expensive and running only on workstations) and is being used by the students from the MSc degree for working on their projects.

SRAM design based on carbon nanotube field effect transistor's model with modified parameters

Mariya Spasova; Dimitar Nikolov; George Angelov; R. I. Radonov; Marin Hristov

The paper presents a design of SRAM circuit using CNTFET transistors. The complete model describing CNTFET, developed in Stanford University is modified for the purpose of designing a 6T (2×2) SRAM memory cell. The simulation results of the CNTFET SRAM memory cell manifest usability and applicability of the modified CNTFET model in designing digital circuits. The simplified CNTFET model is coded in Verilog-A and is implemented as a symbol in Cadence standard cell libraries. In order to develop a simplified CNTFET model, 430 complete model parameters are studied and estimated. The impact of the complete model parameters over the output and transfer static characteristics has been taken into consideration and parameters with effect lower than 0.0025% are neglected.

Further development of the „E-Management" platform for electronic management and control of the education

R. I. Radonov; Valentin Videkov

This paper presents the new functionalities which have been introduced to the E-Management platform for management and control of the educational process. Functions related to facilitation of teachers tasks and traceability of the process are shown. The results from their application to different subjects at different faculties and year of study are described. Part of the results acquired during the last decade of usage have been statistically processed.

Distant learning experience in microelectronics CAD tools

Marin Hristov; R. I. Radonov

This paper is dedicated to the experience in the field of distant learning of the ECAD Laboratory in the Technical University of Sofia. Four Web-based distant learning modules are described and a brief summary of their submodules is given. These Web-based modules are a CADENCE design software module in English, an interactive module digital IC design using SYNOPSYS in English, an interactive module digital IC design using SYNOPSYS in Bulgarian and an analog IC design module. The methods and core skills that should be trained in Web-based courses are defined in the paper. The concept of the realization of Web-based training courses is explained. These modules were developed in the framework of the European Project IST-2000-30193 REASON (research and training actions for system on chip design).
